Provisional statistics of course, but it does look like the LF's for both WAT routes have come down to rather problematic levels. Maybe not the smartest move on VLM's part to silently hike up the prices on these routes by 65+ percent in mid August. Too much too soon?

Those WAT load factors are low for September but if they've been hiking fares its unsurprising. WAT is a great opportunity for VLM both to BHX and especially LTN given the routes track record. Hopefully they'll see sense and charge realistic fares to drive growth and make the route work successfully as it once did

45% loadfactor of an 50 seater aircraft???
How can a route than be profitable?
It think it is time that VLM is considering "re-inventing" itself.
To start with to kick those F50 out. I think that this aircraft is really limiting the company in it expansion.
Grtz

As for getting rid of the F50s, in what way does it limit VLM's expansion? Judging by the loads, they don't need anything bigger, and I doubt the F50s owe them anything. Replacing with something smaller would potentially limit further their opportunities, replacing with say, ATRs, would increase their costs.
With the current low fuel costs I would think it's more a case of "steady as she goes" for now.
Good to read that things have improved a deal.

VLM started operating charter routes for Sunweb.be from Bussels Airport
"We have a wetlease-in contract from the Czech airline Travel Service for the winter 2015/16 under the control of VLM Airlines. This aircraft will operate 3 flights per week to destinations in Egypt from Brussels airport."
VLM Airlines ? Do I see this right? flyVLM operating a Boeing...

This whole Sunweb charter deal sounds like something that didn't quite turn out as planned.
Had the SSJ100's arrived by now, they would probably have used one of those for the flights to Egypt. Which sounds like a pretty good way to make full use of these machines. As it stands though, I can't help but think VLM isn't - to put it mildly - making a ton of money fulfilling this contract with Sunweb.

Dark clouds...
VLM's Dutch subsidiary VLM Airlines BV went bankrupt. 75 employees concerned. RTM-HAM schedule will be continued. At the same time unions at VLM's Antwerp hq were informed of imminent cost cutting measures.
At least the posts mentioning Waterford, were more optimistic...

Was told today that a European airline (VLM was actually mentioned) is looking at basing a 50 seater aircraft in Tortola , British Virgin Islands to operate flights to SXM ( St Maarten), ANU (Antigua) and SJU (San Juan). Anybody heard anything about this, will be great news for us if it is true.

They have launched a Pro Pass for frequant flyers out of WAT, includes 6 return flghts, transferable and fixed flight price for travel up to 6 months. €898/£649.
Works out at 150 per return flight.
Think it is actually better offer than what EI/FR/BA/WX offer for those who don't know plans a long way out. Would be doing well to get 150 return never mind extra for baggage.
