It was amazing to see the massive number of people - of all ages - who came along to see the Vulcan flypast on Sunday. Despite an unexpected 30 minutes of rain at about 2PM it was a fantastic turnout - and all for a two minute view of the flying Vulcan. As a bonus to those enthusiasts with cameras there was a BA aircraft (LCY divert from Saturday) taking off as well. A shame that SEN did not appear to have taken the opportunity to hand out publicity re new / existing routes to the gathered throng. Surely this would have been a jolly good opportunity?

Adria
An announcement was made today stating how Adria are going to expand at both Lodz and Tirana, but say they are still weighing-up the option of opening a 'low-cost base' at MBX. No mention of MBX-SEN running through W15 and with time running out to put it on sale I would say it is looking less likely now. However, if the route is performing as well as they say it is then it should at least return for S16 I would have thought.

I did hear that talks have taken place to move the service to LTN. Don't know who approached who or how the talks went. It would be at a different time of the day though.
I did note that the flight has already appeared on the departure board in the terminal with the Adria logo. I have no idea why this was but it was still on the airport website when I got home.
As stated this is only a rumour and could well be baseless.

MARIBOR
I assume that flight into Luton today (if indeed at arrived) was a charter. Looking on the Maribor departures board, the flights will continue to Southend. However, anything could happen after October. Stansted and Luton have poached flights before away from Southend. I did wonder, though, if the CRJ900 is a bit pushed for operations from SEN's short runway.

Well you cannot deny that LTN has a good reputation when it comes to Eastern European routes, but then again when SEN had KRK it appeared to be too successful and diluted the pax on the LGW-KRK route and was subsequently dropped, and at the moment early indications suggest that MBX is doing well (although we'll wait for the CAA stats to verify this).

If the service is carrying mainly non UK citizens I don't think it matters one bit which London airport is used and a different airport would be unlikely to attract more passengers in my opinion. There never seems to be many English on the LTN Wizz flights so I would have thought Southend would be the same.
Adria's former foray into LTN stopped when Wizz opened on the same route (LJU). If Maribor is successful at LTN or anywhere else, there is a good chance Wizz will jump in.

Having been in Slovenia last week and travelled through Maribor, I noticed that the route to Southend is being marketed locally. I saw a number of Adria adverts around Maribor advertising London plus roadside billboards promoting the route.
Of course, it does not guarantee the route will be a success but it was interesting to see and good that the effort is being made when many undeveloped routes fail early on through lack of awareness.

Been reading the thread and trying to find out why Aer Lingus and Flybe have abandoned SEN to EIDW. I was a regular flyer on the Sat a.m. schedule.
Aer Lingus jockey around with the Sat a.m. departure time, it used to be I think a 10a.m. or 10:30a.m. departure then they pushed it back to 11a.m. then 11:30a.m. and before they dropped the service they were departing at midday.
There were intermittent problems with a/c going tech, or delayed inbound for the Sata.m. to SEN as the a/c wasn't available in EIDW so sent in a/c from other routes. It became a bit of a farce towards the end.
Then BE stepped in but was short lived before they too dropped their EIDW service. I haved contacted Stobart Air for an update on when they'll reconvene the services but no joy yet in terms of a reply.
Any chance FR may take up the route or BA or even Cityjet?
Does anybody know wgat is going on and likelihood the Dublin service will recommence?
The ATR was always rammed to full capacity out on Sat and inbound on the Sun evening too.
It's such a shame by SEN it's a great airport and I use it regularly. I've used Squeezie to Amsterdam and the Med.
