Carlisle Airport due to finished building in September. Don't think they will start routes until start of 2016 new season.

- The load factors for the Stobart routes assume CFR 3-weekly, RNS daily, FMO 5-weekly and GRQ at 5 weekly, although not sure if these frequencies are correct.
- Volotea flights average 61.1% LF (229/375) from 3 flights (2 outbound and 1 inbound) as they resumed on Saturday 23rd of May.
- Also noticed LCY-BSL-BRN has gone on sale now, but that too is only on sale until the 24th October (SEN up to 23rd October). Looks like more W15 scheduling is being done...

The freight depot being built at CAX has no impact on airline operations.

Stobart have mentioned many times twice daily SEN and daily DUB from CAX this year.

I was enjoying a nice cold beer in the 5th. floor Holiday Inn bar this evening and was intrigued to see a Lufthansa Regional plane arriving - apparently from Frankfurt Main. Was this yet another LCY diversion?

LH936

Not sure what the problem was (perhaps someone on here can confirm), but it made two missed approaches at LCY then diverted to SEN.

Those easyJet figures for May look a little disconcerting to say the least, let us hope it is just a one-off or I can see an aircraft being redeployed somewhere else pretty quickly.

The easyJet figures for May simply reflect the fact that SEN was a four aircraft base in S2014 and is now a three aircraft base so frequencies on some routes have been reduced accordingly. For example ALC is 7 x weekly compared to 10 x weekly and BCN is 4 x weekly against 9 x weekly. The May figures are completely in line with that fact and load factors for ALC, BCN and AGP all seem to be around 92%.

Stobart need to be working hard to convince easyJet to restore the fourth aircraft (at least) for S2016.

Another factor was some of EZY's summer sun routes/additional frequencies not starting until a bit later this year. This was not unique to SEN, though.

For example IBZ did not commence until mid-May rather than the start of May or last weekend of April.

Yes the EZY routes seem to be performing well, at least in terms of load factor (and I know that yield is the crucial variable, but LF is all we have to go on). If Stobart are working to secure a fourth based airframe in S16 they should provide some evidence of demand - I would have thought that Malta, Nice, Copenhagen and Bordeaux would have been possibles, along with Krakow, Prague and other eastern European destinations.

Are the SEN marketing folks conducting (or more likely commissioning) surveys of customers in southern Essex, I wonder.....?

The old idea of "build it and they will come" might work for Malaga and Amsterdam, but other destinations need strong promoting to ensure viability.

Based on information on another forum, there have been 26 return flights to Groningen in May, which gives a load factor of 54%.
  • June: 1546. 49%.
  • July: 2087. 54%.
  • Aug: 2065. 55%.
  • Sep: 1550. 41%.
  • Oct: 1797. 46%.
  • Nov: 1657. 46%.
  • Dec: 2064. 55%.
  • Jan: 1446. 40%.
  • Feb: 1393. 48%.
  • Mar: 1383. 48%.
  • Apr: 1798. 54%.
  • May: 1998. 54%.
Upon the launch of the route, Stobart indicated a target of 20,000 passengers in the first year, so with a total of 20,783 passengers the target has been met.

ErwinFCG - Thanks for the correction. Nice to see that the target has been met, and surpassed. Not sure what targets were set on the other routes.

SkyWork

BRN-SEN is now bookable up to the 25 March 2016.

Operates 5x weekly, then 3x weekly in the week after Christmas until New Year, then goes back up to 5x weekly, all with the same timings.

They were true to their word when they said "The times in the timetable to London Southend will be adjusted later to meet requirements". Think the SEN management will be hugely relieved at this news.

That's excellent news. The route needed a decent time to establish itself.

Next Thursday's MBX-SEN looks to be sold out.

Loads are pretty good in general but I cannot be more precise than that, other than to say last Monday's MBX-SEN flight had 161 seats booked. Whether or not they will extend the schedule through the winter I don't know.

I think last Monday´s loads were due to England supporters returning from the football match in nearby Ljubliana.
