Sounds like a plain biz jet movement particularly as it didn't hang around for a return leg. Could it be Sea Air management over here to meet airport management at Southend seeing it didn't appear on the departure board at Munich? If this was a proper Sea Air scheduled service then they won't be using a 737 with that sort of passenger load.

Well, I suppose they might do better if they thought of advertising their service. Although, as someone else said on another forum, I rather fancy the idea of turning up at an airport expecting to fly on a Boeing or and Airbus and instead flying out in an executive jet.
Not a profitable way to run an airline though!

With nothing from Sea Air today it seems that yesterdays flight by business jet was indeed a private flight linked to Sea Air and not the start of a scheduled service. Either that or they are running flights only when someone has actually booked a seat which is better than flying aircraft in an out empty. Skepticism about the benefits Southend will derive from this airline seem well founded.

They would be better spending their money on an advertising campaign than laying on a business jet for next to no passengers. So how many weeks will this service last then?

Do people honestly think that this Sea Air saga are actually going to be here in 6 months time? Never in over 20 years of working in this industry have I ever known an airline start up to use an executive jet for low loads. The fact that loads are in single figures speaks volumes (or not). The chances of who? Air ever filling a 737 are probably less than your lottery numbers coming up. Their website hardly has me reaching for my debit card. As general public how would you even know who they are? No one has even heard of them outside of this forum.
What Southend needs is a real airline with a bunch of routes that haven't been plucked from a hat. Unfortunately they aren't queueing up at their door. Shame really as having used the place it's not that bad a little airport.

None of what's gone on over the year or so will help SEN reputation or brand. The opposite in fact. People just won't be arsed going to SEN, the other competiting airports in the south east will continue attracting significant pax volumes, whilst SEN struggles. It won't do the STOB brand any good either whilst the SEN saga continues to drag on and on and on blah blah blah. You could come back to this thread in 12 months and the same rumour mill will be at full tilt on speculation of carriers and new routes, without any appreciable progress at all. I hope I'm wrong but I really feel SEN is a bit of a flat discussion now.

I think as far as Joe Public are concerned it will have zero affect as will any other route that has disappeared as people are just not interested and who knows about this route apart from us here as it doesn't even come up on a flight search engine.
As for attracting new business this won't help that's for sure. Will the airline still flying this route this time next year, I would put the odds at 5000-1, about the same as Leicester City winning the Premier League.
(Edit) what is going on The departure board is showing Munich departures at 7am and 11:30 but no arrivals. On the Munich arrivals board it shows nothing for either flight as does all the other independent flight checkers on the web. Is the biz jet flying back empty? Is it flying at all today? You couldn't make this up!!!

Some of you boys sure get up early to check what's up! I know the Sea-Air discussion will continue until such time as they either confirm the service has ceased, or until a larger aircraft arrives and loads are profitable. But what amazes me is how Stobart are treating this. I have received 2 emails (replies) from LSA during the past 2 weeks, and instead of suggesting caution, they confirm that a B737 will be in use "early in June". Not "may" but "will". Maybe the management of Sea-Air mean well, but how can the poor souls sell seats with no publicity both ends.

Well - it was jolly good to see that SEN has received a BA divert today. Now - this was from "Quimper" - be honest - who has ever heard of Quimper before? Also jolly good to see that the ba.com website has stated flight will arrive at LONDON SOUTHEND as against just SOUTHEND. Well done BA!!

Still staggers me how many airports still list SEN as just 'Southend' as opposed to 'London-Southend' on their respective websites. Surely they're limiting the potential customer reach by doing this.

Well you ignorant Essex 'boy' I have and have been there! It is the aydministrative capital of the Finistere department of Brittany and also regarded as the cultural capital of Brittany - that is in France by the way - well worth a visit. It was served in the 1950s and 1960s by scheduled air services from the UK.
