Hmm. Glyn Wall Ltd is a company that was only registered two months ago and has no track record of anything. I wish them the best of luck but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Certainly looks like the same man then. Let's hope for some positive news for DTV, I've always had a soft spot for the place and well remember my visits to BMA Viscount cockpits as a youngster

Thumbs up October Passenger Figures

Amsterdam up 3%, Aberdeen up 6%, down overall by 6.4%, presumably this is relating to their being some final charter flights this time last year?

I suppose you can look at it positively, for next year, there might be some overall growth? As there won't be the massive dent TOM have left behind, just shows how much effect 2 738's a week makes on a small market unfortunately :/

Thumbs up Passenger Figures

At last room for some optimism? Bottomed out very nearly...all we need is a kind winter and 2015 figures could show an increase??
Still not fantastic and the worse since 1972 ish?

Any other news anyone? Any movement on houses and development south side?

Are passenger figures really relevant at present so long as the AMS and ABZ services can be maintained? Clearly Peel see the future of the airport in other directions (which is a completely different story - not looking to re-open that debate, just querying the relevance of the monthly pax figures - just because a number is available, doesn't make it important).

In another thread a dubious little startup called savair was posted, they want to start services from DSA, MME and BLK (hmmmmm) to city and sun destinations throughout europe, I've emailed them asking for more details about their planned operations, very very longshot but if they start of cautiously (obligatory ACE, PMI, TFS troop flights) and advertise themself adequately in Teesside, they could have a chance.

DSA seems to be the centre of their focus judging by this survey:

I agree though, if you can keep KLM and T3, well at least that's something. I assume ABZ will be kept afloat by oil ties? Just I can't imagine a scenario in many other cities where a multiple daily service to ABZ can be supported but not LON/DUB

In regard to the AMS & ABZ figures would these figures include diversions from LBA etc? Could make quite a percentage increase?

SavAir

I was talking to their new Ops Director the other day; they've moved away from DSA and are now considering either ourselves or Blackpool, leaning slightly more towards the latter. Their choice of equipment is ideal for us and fits in perfectly with the current fire category whilst being large enough to suitably cater for the bucket and spade destinations, though I got the impression the city destinations would come first.

Yes the MD is a 16 yr old and the Ops Director is himself only 22, but they know the industry, have suitable qualifications, and have their heads screwed on, so in this case, if age went against them it would be a shame.

All that being said, I too am sceptical for the time being and will believe it when I see it.

Thumbs down new airlines for DTV?

But surely that goes against all of Peels doctrine?? !! Would they offer support to any airline. Never mind a schoolboy project?? Pie in sky and against the "master plan"..

HWU - don't think Peel are opposed to new business, so long as it doesn't cost them - would imagine they would be cautious of a paper start up company after the last fiasco (Nigerian bloke - can't remember the name?).

Curious as to what equipment is planned, though. Also curious as to what suitable qualifications a 16 year old has? Impressive that they've got a handle on Balfour Beatty's plans for Squires Gate - wasn't aware they were that advanced.
