Peel Energy - Wind turbine rumour

A number of people in the local MSG area have been hearing about possible wind turbines being placed on the airport site if Peel don't get their way with housebuilding.
Peel are apparently worried about the Save the airport members who have asked the government to look into the legality of how the casting planning vote by one member was allowed at the recent Darlington council meeting.

Peel are no stranger to wind turbines. Their subsidiary is Peel Energy who are currently trying to build 145m (475ft) high turbines in Lerwick.
I wonder why Whittaker doesn't put the 145m turbines outside his mansion on the Isle of Man if he's so keen on them?
Sustainable group first to object to Peel windfarm project | The Shetland Times Ltd

Question: could Peel build turbines on the airport land if they closed the airport due to its current costs, or are there covenants on the land to stop this from happening?

I don't think so Beafer.

The Secretary for State has decided not to call in the planning application. Did you not get the letter on or around 25th April? A hound like you should of got one!

East Midlands airport has had wind turbines near the terminal for years so small turbines might be viable. I have suggested numerous times that they should turn the South facing roof panels on hangar 1 into a solar power station. Heat and power for the airport and hangar.

N707z - I've been on a cruise but the appeal news is shown on the Save Teesside Airport Facebook page dated 29th April 2017 shown below.

SAVE Teesside Airport Fb post
29 April at 17:24 ·
A little good news, I hope.
We are hoping to get a Judicial Review of the planning decision by Darlington Council to allow housing at the airport. There is only a six-week period after the decision during which a JR can be called for.
However, although the decision to grant permission was made on the 29th March the decision notice has not been issued yet, and won’t be until the Section 106 Agreement has been signed and the objections by Sport England and Highways England have been satisfied.
This gives us a little more time to raise the money for the JR via crowdfunding.
The crowdfunfing campaign is going slowly and it is disappointing.
Some people are worried about giving out bank details but it is very confidential and it is only the same as buying something from the internet, using a credit or debit card, and at this stage it is only a pledge.. so please please pledge what you can, and if you know any businesses that believe having a thriving local airport is a good idea please ask them to pledge as well.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP......WE are trying so hard to keep our airport .....every little helps !!

I once heard a Peel guy state "we don't need to fight small battles like that"

Sorry if my post has gone over old ground .
Tbh there are so many pages many of which seem to be arguments Tec.
Hence my post.
Either the airport will close or sooner or later hopefully with new owners it will gain or regain new/old routes.
It is a fact that there is a sizeable populace.
Bear in mind back an Ireland Knock which is in the middle of nowhere is reasonably busy and has a fair selection of routes.
But it's odd how DYV and GUY both have near identical routes and times.
I think one thing people forget and is probably the only positive.
KLM .
A large carrier whereby their link to AMS effectively opens up the world to Teesside through oncoming ticketing or whatever the correct terminology is.
I can imagine the likes of Doncaster and Blackpool would kill to have the prestige of KLM as would many unserved UK airports.
I wonder if indeed KLM will expand to the likes of Doncaster when their Fokker fleet is fully replaced with the larger Embraer 195's.
Ok DSA have Flybe but competition can be a good thing.
But if DTV is to survive Peel must go.
It has potential but despite government ideals of utilising regional airports it's almost dead and buried.

Has the new Mayor or "Save Teesside Airport" said how they are going to get airlines to fly from DTVA?

Perhaps he will do like our neighbours and pay for the planes to land never mind waver the fees, oh how do we make money when we haven't got a shopping mall and our drop off fee is ZERO for three hours.

Make money? Ahh that's the idea..well doing well so far..not.
March figures. Passengers down 15%. The Blue Riband route to Amsterdam down. 13% ..the slow death continues?

So is it,housing, wind turbines, airstrip or just a brown field site awaiting a U turn in the Countries fortunes?

Like them or not, Peel are the only game in town - unless somebody else turns up with a shed load of money and an alternative game plan, these guys don't seem to be offering anything concrete and so are just an unnecessary distraction.

I'm not convinced Peel can pull off the Masterplan, but they might and what is the alternative?

EGPO - we're keen to hear what you have to say but it's very difficult to understand what you are trying to say. If english is not your first language, it might be helpful to use Google Translate so you can type in your own language and get a reasonably good automated translation into english. If english is your first language, then perhaps you could get a friend to read over the text before you submit it and maybe help a bit with grammar or sentence structure

Until housing is built airport is staying open in its current format. Hangars expected the full length of the field on the North side.

Then when the housing is occupied the complaints about the noise will start (the occupants being unaware that they are living on an airport site.)

Do other airports have this problem (most having more housing and closer to the airport at that)? Noise complaints more often than not get dismissed don't they?

Couple of things - type of housing, presumably those at DTVA won't be at the "affordable" end, so expect any opposition to be eloquent and well organised, also at most airports the housing has been historic and people have been compensated as the airport has grown - different times....

I have to say that was an excellent post and one I fully agree with, I was going to post my own but I think you did a great job in doing so.
