New "Long term agreement" with KLM:

KLM agree new 'long term agreement' to fly from Durham Tees Valley Airport - Gazette Live

Apparently the length of the contract is “commercially confidential”.

Good news though!

Fishburn has fuel and buildings, do they require fire cover?

But not the right sort of fuel (yet) or buildings - GNAA are looking for a site where they can put the:

operational crew, fundraising and administrative staff under one roof
Grahame Pickering MBE, said the charity would make “considerable savings” as it would not be paying rent on three different sites - it currently has a head office in Darlington and a separate office in Newton Aycliffe, while crews are based at Durham Tees Valley Airport. All of these would move to the new site

So..why not a complete base at DTV? Pretty central and I'm sure Peel would give a good deal? ...if not why not?

Over and out

So, having had a long hard think over the last few days, I've decided to call it a day. With the exception of any direct replies to this particular post, I'm done with PPRuNe.

Some things I've learned over the years is you can't beat a conspiracy theorist as they always have an answer and you can't beat an armchair CEO as they have to have the last word. But the most important thing I've finally learned, is to keep quiet and just say nothing, something which I've been repeatedly advised over the years by the many other supporters of the airport, who just watch from the sidelines and laugh at the ridiculousness of some of the comments on the likes of here and over at "SAVE Teesside Airport" on Facebook, who by the way are manipulative liars who like to twist facts and whom I loathe, you guys on here are a pleasure in comparison.

Just some thoughts on some of the regulars on here...Beafer/Highwide, I along with others have never found it difficult to shoot down your arguments, they never hold much weight, that is when you aren't asking the same question just worded differently over and over. SWBKCB...you look both ways - when you support the airport you do so with an enthusiasm but the same applies when you criticise, but at least when you do your reservations about Peel are logical and make sense, I respect that. Onion, you stated you have supported the airport since long before I came on the scene, well my understanding is you're no longer on the scene - well I am, that makes me more clued up on current and future events. Jamesgrainge - your posts have an aggression about them and when the airport turns it's fortunes around I think you will be rather devastated as you appear to want the airport to fail. Robert-Ryan, again you look both ways, though your support far outweighs your criticising - keep flying the flag! N707ZS - always a calm, impartial response, when you're not attacking Beafer that is!!

Finally, as I've said before, my optimism is not based on my own personal hope that the airport is in good hands and will bounce back one day, it is based on what I see, hear and read Peel doing with my own eyes and ears - much of which is confidential, and as SWBKCB said, claiming you know something but can't say is a playground game, however...if it's true, then it's true.

Cheers for the feature mush, no aggression here, just text speak. Good luck to you. This thread will become rather quiet now though.

Does anyone else here find it ironic that sitting back and saying nothing is almost exactly what this slightly inflammatory post does not do?

Time to come clean about the sale of the airport to a private company.

I think CO has realised the inevitable is just around the corner with the planning application in for the 350 houses.
Once they are up does anyone think night flights will continue?
KLM agree new 'long term agreement' to fly from Durham Tees Valley Airport - Gazette Live

Why kick the airlines out? oh yes its the Peel way or the highway.
Talking of highways whats the betting the south side will become a mini Ingleby Barwick as well. Peel kicked Thomson out, the airline didn't want to go - fact.
Whats the betting KLM will be given no other choice when Peel decide to lock the gates.

Thomson flights axed from Durham Tees Valley Airport - BBC News
The quote from the ex councillor did make me laugh. Who is going to get a grip?? They are all in it for the money. its not what you know, its who you know down at the lodge

Lets face it Darlington council will have already rubber stamped the house building plans. They want the council tax revenue. Peel have their contractors on standby according to some.
Whitaker must be laughing all the way to the bank with the friends of the airport volunteering to do jobs for free, while he counts his millions.

Even the local football premiership team prefer Leeds. Could it be anything to do with the way the airport is run by Peel? Leeds now have over 3m passengers a year. If Peel hadn't been given the airport Teesside could have the same footfall.

Its just a waiting game now.

Teeside Airport was gifted to the private company Peel for a small amount of money, and its about time the company and 6 local councils made the sale contract available to the public, instead of saying its a commercial secret.

As for CO it wouldn't surprise me if he's been silenced by Peel if he works at the airport. They are hoping nobody will discuss whats happening at Teesside Airport.
This graph shows what Peel have done. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durham...Valley_Airport

and that ladies and gentlemen is exactly why I'm leaving...Beafer are you one of the two individuals behind STA by chance? - or STI as I prefer to call them, because that kind of twisting of facts coupled with believing the BS that appears in the papers would make them so proud!

and no I don't work for Peel.

CO, yes it is true that I'm not currently in the North East, but please explain how you have access to more information than anyone else?
My point was a fact, in that I was a supporter before you were around. You time and again state you know this or that but never produce.
I would also like to point out that not all the media is negative, it just that many of us have learnt to read between the lines.
With regards to Peel they are manipulative and sail very close to the (legal) wind and I'm quite happy saying it.
I do not trust the airport owners at all, it doesn't mean I don't support the airport!

Good points Onion,a lot of people on here support what once was a thriving, potentially developing major player.
Poor choices by local councils and management companies are what the moans and groans are about.
It's not personal against individuals who have the true airport at heart.

BTW if it took an ex military man until 20.03 on a Friday night to become "the worse for wear" then I think he,s done very well indeed!!!!!

Anyway fear not ,the true fight against the establishment will continue, even if we are one contributor down!

Seeing that the Tees Valley voted to become part of the 'Northern Power House', would they get money to improve transport links like MME, or is that too much to expect?

A shame...

CO; I'd encourage you to stay. You provide an alternative voice to a lot on here, often with an informed background. It's an Internet forum, not real life, so don't take what invisible people behind keyboards say personally. State your facts, or opinions, and move on. Don't let people get you down....

Stay well and keep fighting the fight.

I'll echo what P330 says, don't thow in the towell, fight the fight, and let us decide. There are those who we can see through and those to whom we listen and take note - but only you can make the decision.
