Came through yesterday, notable was the queue marshal in security nonchalantly directing people, while gassing to their colleague, arbitrarily between two queues, one of which took about 2 minutes before getting to the trays, the other queue turning out to be far longer and taking more than 10 minutes. Hey Ho, I presume it was convenient to somebody to do that.
But they also have new notices up there, grimly stating that anyone approaching the security x-ray who has the effrontery to have not put their liquids in the bags will be Delayed By 15 Minutes. Just whatever sort of organisation do they think they are running ? A military boot camp ?

Expansion
This seems to be the only master plan on EDI webpage for 5 new stands by 2021. This was 2016 and I thought any plan for 20 new stands would have to be in the public domain for planning consent?

If indeed it is true, it's fantastic news that serious investment is being made.

They launched a consultation last November on a Masterplan through to 2040. This included closing the cross runway and extending the terminal across it. There's a link from a press release on the media pages in November

Is your information more recent? After all the consultation period would have ended at the start of the year.

Can closing the second runway and converting EDI from a two runway airport to a single runway really be a good idea?
A simple tyre burst can (and does) shut the entire airport down for an hour or more, causing a chain reaction of chaos which lasts for the rest of the day.

The information came from a respected poster so in my humble opinion there is no reason to doubt it.
With regards to closing the second runway and operating with one causing issues, it doesnt seem to bother Gatwick who operate with a single runway and many more aircraft movements day-in, day-out.
We have been saying for years that EDI needs some proper investment to not only take care of its current needs but provide robust infrastructure for the future and it looks as though GIP think the same.
