A week's break in July EDI-Newburgh/Stewart *begins* at £545.70 "LowFare" option for a Sat/Sat.
That''s quite far from £69. One assumes that's a day return in darkest Feb?
If I want to eat and not have a seat selected for me, it comes in at £675.90 for 1 Jul/8 Jul.
Also, not close to £69.
Also does not include travel to New York !
Be good to see more options for direct, I just wish they'd stop opening with "From £69".

Do you really seriously think that RY and DY will offer connections it's just pie in the sky, why would two of Europes largest low cost airlines and competitors at that work together in the form of connections!

You may not believe it but they are very close to announcing increased co-operation including feeding DY's TATL services.

Another hour+ travelling by road potentially in the dark doesnt fill me with pleasure to be honest.
Will the travelling public accept these regional outposts as Boston and New York, esp if the '£69 fare' is FR style marketing spin. Its likely to be £200+ with standard add ons which is not much less than some EI fares to the major city hubs. The CAA stats presumably will show these seperately to let judge loads and demand. Wonder who these flights are marketted at - inbound, outbound or a bit of both.
In interesting experiment definitely, one that will be closely watched.
Wonder what the facilities for international multi flight immigration will be, and provisions for delays.

The cheapskates will buy seats in their droves. I am certain of that. Scottish folk love a "bargain". I can see folk I've known for years commenting on this on Facebook who would normally be turned off by the mainline legacies. The exact type who fill FR planes to the med. These people do point to point, they won't be travelling on to Orlando, Vegas or anywhere else.

Crikey - alot of negativity for an airline demonstrating some outside the box thinking. As others have said it is an interesting experiment that should do well and I wish them all the success with it.
Speaking as a local to EDI, the new flights are very exciting additions indeed. It will be great if the proposed connecting opportunities with FR do happen as well.

I mean I personally won't be using the services, but I'm all for competition, a price war and service to new areas.

I think this is going to hurt the legacies a wee bit. Something will have to give. You are going to end up with, what 7x daily to NYC from the central belt in the summer for instance?

Everyone here seems to be incorrectly making the assumption that these flights are only going to appeal to people wanting to visit Boston and NYC. That will certainly form part of the demand.
But what about the millions of Americans living within the metropolitan areas serving these airports? They now have cheap, non stop service to Ireland and Scotland. Both hugely popular with American tourists.
Out of interest, does anyone know how EI are doing on DUB-BDL?

Just checked for a weeks trip in August £545 return per person.
For October £447 return! That's not including baggage or a meal.
Anyone bags a £69 fare please share!!!
I think the product with Norwegian is good, very nice airline to fly with, no sell and very comfy seating.
Just I think it's a bit out the way, you have to waste a day of your holiday planning on traveling back to Stewart from NYC...
landing from a looooonnnnggg transatlantic flight on a 737, then faceing a bus ride to the city, then a cab or the underground to your hotel.... obviously if your flying to the local area then perfect!!!!
It will be fascinating to watch!

I wonder how long it will be before anything about the Norwegian flights appears on the EDI website. They seem to update it once every blue moon. For example the Vueling flights to Orly that were dropped last week, are still on their, very non user-friendly, timetable page.

Speedbrakes Up - I got the £69e/w fare, late June.
Given £69 is surely less than the taxes for the flight, they're paying you to fly (?) Oh wait.....

According to the Norwegian site, all the airports have a variety of hotels whose brands include budget ones such as Days Inn. Since you will be arriving at a time which your brain thinks is the middle of the night, I would expect them to be popular.
