would be surprised if thats the last of Jet2 NAP, wasnt there just a media fanfare launch the other day. Better on bread and butter gauranteed cheapo money-spinners such FAO (cant see the attraction personally) than slightly more marginal NAP in competition.

will be interesting to see the June CAA stats for EY. The DOH figures look dire, although probably mistepresented with the change to daily.

I believe QR went daily on May 1st, 8479/62 gives an average of just under 137 pax per flight, giving an average load for the month of 53.94%

Czech Airlines returning to Edinburgh

From 14 July apparently. Doesn't give them much time to sell seats, but good luck to them.

Flight is twice weekly and a multi stopper, routing PRG-LCJ-EDI-RZE on Tue and Sat mornings and RZE-EDI-LCJ-PRG on Tue and Sat afternoons.

Nice addition but would folks be happy with Prague as a two leg flight?

routing PRG-LCJ-EDI-RZE
Are you sure about that routing? Routing Map
RZE and LCJ are both in Poland.

Unless they're planning to sell EDI-RZE as a separate flight, there's no way anyone would route Poland to Prague via Scotland!

What a shambles. Too much penny punching and money grabbing going on. Rapid expansion never works. Cant believe its chaos already and the schools havent even stopped yet in Scotland or lots of new summer routes even to start

They offload the bags.

They've had huge success at getting in new throughput but the customer experience is now a shopping mall on a busy Saturday and getting claustrophobic. This is a typically British approach as the balance between commerce and experience swings too far towards the mighty £. It's like Heathrow in the last decades of the 20th century, just bolting new bits onto a structure that was never designed with such volumes in mind.

Needs rebuilt from the ground up but would there be a good ROI in such a market?

The security problems are intermittent. Some days, even when it's busy, the queues are fine. The new security hall seems to have the capacity but is sometimes understaffed compared to demand.

A recent statement from GIP apologised profusely for the problems and said that they are in the process of tackling them. They claim that pax numbers are significantly higher than expected, not because of additional flights, which they had planned for, but because load factors are higher than previous years, which they hadn't planned for.

The higher load factors must be good news for the airlines/EDI and are a positive sign for business and tourism but, in fairness to GIP, are not as easy to plan for as extra flights, especially if the higher load factors are the result of late bookings.

The criticism of EDI security problems in this and other forums is certainly warranted and GIP needs to better match security capacity to demand. It's not in GIP's interests to have these security delays as it reduces the time that pax can spend in the shops and food/drink outlets, it inconveniences pax and it inconveniences airlines. All of these are bad for business.

what happen to the Hainan China flight announcement and PR First Minister promotion? Or were some just getting carried away? Will need to be announced soon to fill a Spring 16 launch.

There's no further news yet but this job opportunity has recently been advertised in Edinburgh and some new signs at Edinburgh Airport are in Chinese; hopefully there will be an announcement soon.
