You tell me? I only report rumours from sound sources. Earliest on the airline would be winter timetable. Sprinklers, who gives a.......teddy bears do it in the wood dear!

A website is showing 154 commercial departures today including cargo but that includes the odd code sharing flight. Looking at the traffic queues that today extended to the traffic lights at Parkway I would think that today will be the busiest day over the Easter.

I also see there is a Sunwings 737-800 due in from Montreal, Canada this morning which according to the airports arrival board is listed as a Wizzair flight.

They also show Cityjet (code WX) as a Wizzair flight when the airline has operated the odd charter flight.

A new Polish route from Ryanair announced to Bydgoszcz, to be operated three times daily!

New London Luton - Bydgoszcz Route Launched

A very smart move by Ryanair to start a Polish route Wizzair are not operating from Luton. Unfortunately the route also operates from Stansted, so will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

They also operate to Rzeszow as well from Luton, which Wizz do not serve either.

They also quote on their website:

Ryanair’s London Luton winter 2017 schedule will deliver:

1 new route to Bydgoszcz (3 x weekly)
15 routes in total (including Fuertaventura, Lanzarote, Malta & Tenerife)
75 weekly flights
Over 1.6 million customers p.a

Looks like it will be operated by a LTN based aircraft, I wonder what route that is replacing?

I think it could be replacing the Luton-Cagliari service which ended recently, which had only been running for two months! Hope this route sticks around for a bit longer!

I take my hat off to Luton for creating an even more expensive option for priority parking. The standard option is now open air parking which just happens to be on the roof of the multi-storey or for a few pounds more the passenger can elect for the car to be parked under cover on the 4th floor.

The savvy parker can self park undercover on all the other floors of the multi-storey but that is not a cheap option either.

Delta Taxiway Expansion

Something interesting was said today

When the new taxiway system starts construction the wide body aircraft will not be allowed down the delta taxiway due to the on going construction works

Assuming most of the works will be at night because we've heard that DHL will pull out of Luton for the duration of the works then come back after work has finished.
All their aircraft will be sent to Stansted where they're building a new hub, which had been in the works for some time.

Interesting times ahead for widebodys at Luton, would be interesting how the likes of ElAl, MNG and Thomson respond to this.

Can't see why the construction of Taxiway Foxtrot would have a major affect on wide body aircraft operating down Taxiway Delta, also most of the work would be done during the day. At the moment between holding points B1 and A5 which is by the fire station to half way along the south stands there are restrictions to code D and E aircraft unless a follow me vehicle is provided from April 4th until 1st July so I would have thought the same arrangement would be in place for the tie-ins to Taxiway Delta. Also between 21.00 and 04:00 Mo-Fi from 29th March until 31st May the junction by the fire station to the main apron is closed.

The airport is closed though from midnight to 5:30 between 6th November and 16th December and again between 6th January 2018 and 14th January 2018 so the nighttime cargo flights will have to go elsewhere. I assume this will have something to do with the taxiway extension at the 08 end which needs to be joined to the runway.

But surely you loaders can read, after all you must see the name Thomson or TUI every day at work it's written on the side of the aircraft, on the hangar, vehicles, etc.

Remarkable how Luton's number one route is about to drop off a cliff edge.

Does it really matter if there is the odd spelling mistake? I would rather read a post with a spelling error than no post at all because of a fear of misspelling a word and being picked up on it. I can read my own posts days later and spot errors that I have missed on the day and I have also misspelled Thomson on more than one occasion as well.

The loaders hear all sorts of stories so please keep updating us port 94

Stand Changes

9L will soon come back into action and be repainted to acomidate A321's

Stand 60 will then close to build a new footbridge and gate from the terminal to make it a contact stand with its own gate instead of sharing the gate with stand 61

Also an update on the equipment pooling.
The North apron is done and so is the East apron contact stands
The main apron is done from 9 down to stand 2 with it all being finished by the end of July (so they say)

Has that fixed the problem of equipment like stairs going missing and then the ground crew have to do a search while passengers are stuck on the aircraft?

Its so much better
Touch wood there hasn't been any delay in pax disembarking because of steps with the new pooled equipment
Pax waiting for border force is a different issue though haha

All the new equipment runs on a telematics system, you have to swipe your ID pass for anything to start up.
Everything is recorded now, last user, speed, braking action or if you make contact with the aircraft and it all gets logged in the airports system. They really are splashing the cash out on ramp. It's long overdue
