Maybe I should claim the news as a world PPRuNe exclusive. More interesting news to come in the weekly update which will come out on Christmas Eve this week.

Also want to add that the maneuvering area is not at its full width yet which will probably be a good year away after the terminal extension is built.

Can anyone advise whether Ezy flight times for LTN-JER next summer are final or STC? Is there any reason why these flights don't show up on Google Flights?

The flights are up for sale on easyJet's website so I'm guessing they are final and the flights do in fact show up on Google Flights, from the 27th March 2016

Regarding those Wizzair flights Iasi goes up to 3 flights weekly in April and then five per week in July. I do not think this will be the final total for summer 2016 though.

The extra Iasi rotations from Wizzair in July include Monday with a 07.25 arrival and back out on a 07.55 departure. So updating the analysis I posted a few days ago, this adds 2 more movements in the 07.00 - 07.59 hour making a total of 33. Just 1 sky of the 34 maximum runway capacity.

Sure I posted the following but I can't find the post so apologies if I am repeating myself.

The 34 movements per hour rate is set by the maximum capacity runway 08 can handle. This will increase to 40 when the taxiway extensions are finished which will then match the capacity of the rest of the airport when all the work is completed. Adding the additional taxiway to 08 first is more important than the 26 end which is part of the final phase.

For those that think Luton should keep accepting additional movements when the infrastructure is not in place should study this live traffic map. I wonder how many people will miss their Christmas flights this morning or how many passengers crammed into a shuttle bus from the station will spend more time doing the last 1 mile than the train journey from London. Total movements on the boards is 32 from 06:55 to 07:55

LTNman - thanks for posting the screenshot. The walk from the back of the station past the Hampton hotel and up Kimpton Road / Airport Way would look quite appealing to me...

At 7:31 the queue of traffic is all but gone and is just within the CTA now. Noticed a biz jet on approach on flight radar so that takes the movements to 33 but there will be other biz jets I will have missed as I did just a spot check.

The additional problem with the shuttle bus when there is heavy traffic is that the the 10 minute frequency goes out of the window as the fleet is all stuck in the queue so then the buses get even more crowded as there appears to be less of them when in fact they are all operating.

2020 v 2026

During the last few weeks I have read various articles in this forum and equally in other sites and what has transpired is that the 18 million mark has been brought forward to 2020 as opposed to 2026. Is this misinformation or an inclin as to what is to come?

In response to LTN man regarding should the airport still be seeking new business at a time when the airport is currently being developed and seemingly showing some signs of strain- I say grab any business whilst you can or the airlines will soon be Poached by other airports!

During the next five years one thing is guaranteed and that is EasyJet will be basing more aircraft and I am sure that next year even more airlines will be coming and new routes will be announced.

I think the airport will be keen to get to 18 million as fast as they can as it will then bring in more income before 2031 when the running of the airport goes back out to tender.

Weekly redevelopment update

Although most of the ground workers were away all of this week much has still happened this week at Luton.

The old bus station was closed and has been fenced off in two locations with red barriers to keep passengers heading in the right direction and with portable metal fencing to keep the buses out. This area will soon see the builders move in to start on the terminal extension after the passenger route is moved further out.

The two routes for passengers to get to the new bus station, car park and drop off area have been replaced by a single route that hugs the bus bays.

As can be seen in this photo one of the old routes that followed the side of the terminal including the already fenced off three traffic lanes can now be handed over to the new contractor that has won the contract for the terminal rebuild. One of the first jobs will be to put in a new entrance as the old entrances need to be closed, also the terminal will be re clad. At some point in the future work will start on the "super" canopy that will extend to the bus station.

This photo shows the now closed second route to the left and the new route.

Also this week the so far completed outer ring road opened.

Also opened is the first part of the upgraded short term car park but as this is only being used by the airport staff for priority parking Joe Public won't be seeing the benefit just yet.

Also opened is the midterm car park extension but that area is not worthy of a photo and the new bus stop for the shuttle bus close to hangar 89 but at the moment it is on a temporary surface

Finally a new fence is being erected airside to bring part of the eastern apron back to land side as work is soon to start on the new pier.

Good to see Wizz filling the void left by Ryanair to Kaunas. I'd love to see them move into Estonia too

Well that is not on ClearLand08 list http://www.pprune.org/9216239-post3152.html

So with a 7:25 Luton departure is this a Luton based aircraft making 3 or is there another inbound to be announced?

Wizz

Just a thought but given their extensive Poland coverage, I wondered why Wizz don't serve Krakow or Lodz?
