Atlas Global have had just over a year on the route and are adding extra flights such as the second daily flights operated last week, so it sounds like they have some confidence in the route

If I remember correctly it was Anadolujet that used to fly to Ankara from Stansted a few years ago.
Though I'd say Luton could be just as likely to get them if/when they come back to the UK.
I wonder if it would be Ankara again or Istanbul-Sabiha Gokcen, or both?

Ankara has never really worked from London for some reason.
Anadulujet did it for a year or so, Kibris had a flight or two per week for a year or two, Bmed did it for a bit from LHR and I think Turkish flew weekly or twice weekly from STN for a season or two back in the 90s.
If they try it again good luck to them

Heres something for you guys more in the know, than me to chew over...
I know very little about the cargo sector, but sounds interesting and wonder if could lead to other things?

I think Luton cargo operations have always been a little constrained by a lack of dedicated cargo stands. While the airport claims that it has four stands I know of only two stands.
Here is the latest list of cargo destinations as published by the airport but who is City Express who together with with Thomson Fly both serving the IOM???

I was shocked to see that wizz have 297 weekly departures from LTN and will go over 300 in September when Iasi ,Craiova and Chisinau all start.
London Luton (297 weekly departures)
Budapest (217)
Gdansk (139)
Bucharest (137)
Warsaw (112)
Katowice (108)

I suggest LutonMAN if you have a gripe at the number of same Europeans who are entitled to live and work in the UK this is not the place to air your views. if you so wish you could go and live and/or work in most of the countries that Wizz operate to and from. Can we concentrate on aviation related matters please.

DHL CARGO
It seems the ATP has been transferred to East Midlands but Luton has gained a second A300 with extra flights especially to/from Brussels. Not sure if the Helsinki flights are a new service or not.

I remember years ago pushing back a DHL B727 bound for Helsinki on the "old" cargo apron, stand 31 I believe
The Captain advised that it would be a "wet" start......we pushed him back about 50m or so from the white/red wall and little did I know there would be a huge flame shoot out of the engine and head directly towards the Police chopper.
The copper chopper captain went into a right tizzy!! He gave me and my headset guy a proper rollicking!! He claimed the flame went over him, think he exaggerated somewhat but it was a great sight!!
Happy Days

Redevelopment update.
The southern side of the former easyjet HQ was being torn down today.
A contractors village has gone up behind the fuel farms in Proctor Way.
Temporary fencing has been erected next to the approach road by the mid term car park on what will become dual carriageway.
Work continues on the new security hall with most activity being directed to the ceiling area as services are laid in.
Some kerbs have been dropped in the drop off overflow zone for disabled access to the pavement. I suspect that it won't be long before this area becomes the main drop off area when work starts on the CTA.

Ryanair still expands from Copenhagen despite base closure
Good to see Luton so high up in the rankings. This will be one of Luton's biggest destinations. Having recently flown to Copenhagen both flights was near full with maybe 5 empty seats.

Part of Signature's stand 54 which fronts part of hangar 102 was today fenced off in readiness for the demolition of that hangar. For the first time in years the hangar doors to hangar 102 were closed.
Also fenced off today was the roundabout in the CTA opposite easyjet HQ as services are being removed including the long abandoned traffic lights. The roundabout will eventually be only accessed by coaches, service vehicles and taxi's only while cars will be directed to the drop off area and car parks by a new road before reaching the roundabout.
