Great to see Vienna resurrected and hopefully the route will eventually get back to a daily operation which I'm sure it could sustain. Good to see Innsbruck too - presumably it'll be a seasonal winter only service?

Possibly, but at the moment, and it is early days, I think they intend to operate the Copenhagen routes, with aircraft from other bases. If they try to continue the route with a Luton based aircraft, I should imagine it would be on a reduced schedule, with probably another route also taking a cut to accommodate it, since another based aircraft at Luton is virtually nil. Easiest option is just to pull the route.

Ryanair are moving their Copenhagen based aircraft this month so what will happen now to their four flights a day winter timetable?
Painters and decorators were in the terminal today giving the ground floor bar a fresh lick of paint. Don't think anyone has told them that it is soon to be knocked down.

The irony being its all downhill after that bridge, The water should be flowing down to the River Lea somewhere.
That new Wizzair livery sure stands out, Though it was outdone by a Gulfstream 650 parked up on the pond the other day covered in Artistic Penguins. Some sight as I was driving through.

Ah I don't really look at registrations but that kind of rings a bell. It is very unique so it would be hard to mistaken. Quite the stunner indeed.
Yeah just googled it, That is the one.

easyJet to Vienna
Seems a strange schedule, only twice weekly from LTN-VIE which makes me wonder if it's merely a seasonal thing aimed at the Christmas marktets?
Surely the route could comfortably sustain at least 4 or 5 flights a week, or even a daily service as it did once before?

Wizz Air livery
quote:-
"That new Wizzair livery sure stands out"
I have 2 comments:- firstly, mine - with the front portion now being white, the aircraft don't show up as Wizz on the approach the way they did when it was purple. Secondly, with the purple colour now more blue, several Wizz crew have decided they're being taken over by the Russians as the aircraft now resemble a giant Russian flag....(albeit with the red and blue transposed).

What makes Wizz so evident at Luton is the sheer size of their operation now.
They average 41 arrivals a day (576 movements a week), giving them a weekly (summer) capacity of 103,680. When A321 aircraft are introduced in the winter, that capacity will increase further.
They serve 30 destinations in 14 countries at present, with a further three destinations and one "new" country (Moldavia) starting before the end of October. In terms of destinations, their best served market is Poland with 7 destinations, followed by Romania with 6, increasing to 8 later this year. Interestingly, Romania is also served by two other operators (Tarom and Blue Air), so the market is evidently strong.
Whatever colour their aircraft, Wizz are a central feature of Luton's current operation.

Sunday
Malaga comes in as Enfidha doesn't do the W pattern and comes back in at 1
Monday
Corfu replaces Bourgas
Friday
Seems to be 4 morning departures
Bourgas
Tenerife
Skiathos
Palma
Naples seems to be dropped and book able with Monarch

That was started yesterday as I saw men skimming the surface layer up. I think the work is just to resurface the NWC under general airport maintenance. Last year they tackled stands 16 and 17.
The last I heard Signature has been put back until at least August and when it is started the NWC is unaffected. The first job will be to remove the hangar nearest the road followed by its adjoining hangar.

Yes, it makes more sense to start the FBO work once the Wimbledon busy period has finished....August is usually one of the quieter months.
The airport really needs to get better contractors if the NWC is getting re-surfaced again (it wasn't done that long ago!)
