I agree, absolutely ridiculous prices, usually for a family of four it is around £650 - £850 to Spain (specifically Alicante) when booking at this time of the year, but prices are showing between £1,200 - £2,500! Been flying them out of Gatwick regularly in the summer as they usually beat the low cost on price every single time but not in 2017! I can't see how they are going to get any passengers on their flights with those prices!
Malaga flights for July were showing £305 one way per person that's £2,400 for 4 adults return!

Does anyone know when we would be likely to hear of any increased frequencies or new routes from Gatwick for next year? Or if they even will be any kind of expansion?
Also does anyone know how the London Gatwick - New York JFK route is performing?

Rumours on other normally credible aviation websites that BA will announce in the next few weeks a move to a buy-on-board approach to catering on short haul scheduled flights with M&S as a possible supplier.

I can kinda understand the logic but surely it can't be done with a 2/3 crew on a 319 for example. More cabin crew and more time required to clean the plane on each turn. Maybe the crew nite start cleaning there own plane or is that just one step to far

As for more time cleaning... Well with potentially a lot less people actually eating overall compared to the previous offerings (of everyone just taking it because it was there), there could actually be even less rubbish and things to clean up after.

There will be less rubbish on board, since they won't have time to sell that much anyway.
On my flight to Brussels the other day, it was 45 mins in the air, so take off the 10 mins to landing and the 10 mins before the crew were released and they hardly had time to do the free food and drinks, by the time they're taking money, processing credit cards etc they will probably cover about half the cabin, since the Purser will be covering the club hot meal service.

Well, perhaps the crew could do a work experience day on Ryanair/easyJet/Eurowings/AerLingus/BrusselsAL/Iberia/Wizzair and see how to do a full aircraft with minimum crew on a buy on board service on some very short flights.
I will definitely be waiting after witnessing those prices! - AvGeek1
You might care to consider getting on Skyscanner which, apart from showing all current deals for whatever trip you wish, will keep you posted when price changes occur.

Hi All.
Quick question. BA185 LHR to EWR in January 2017, it's currently showing flights going on 787-9. Our booking shows 772. Any ideas if they're making the 787-9 a permanent aircraft on this route into the beginning of 2017?

They will probably make an announcement such as "Due to the short duration of the flight today, any passengers requiring items from our buy on board service should ring the call bell in the panel above."

and when no one buys anything (since they all bought a boots meal deal in the terminal) BA will still be better off because they're not providing and thus paying for, the food they were in the past. It does however mean their only differentiation from the low cost airlines is they award Avios that you may eventually find a flight you can book with them.
Worth remembering that BA management will be secretly treating this as a trial. If forward bookings take a significant hit, it is highly likely that short haul snacks will be reinstated

This will be successful provided the food on board is of reasonable quality. BA passengers need to move with the times or move to another carrier who offer such a service, oh wait not many left!
