I booked BA177 for 2nd January 14 but it was cancelled and ended up on the BA173 - it was 777-300! Nice aircraft, first time on it and the cabin was really nice.
Has anyone found recently that the turbulence over the Atlantic is really bad on inbound flights?

BA World Cargo pulling out of freighter business in April, what happens to GSS? Atlas Air Worldwide, British Airways to Pursue New Opportunities - Yahoo Finance
BA flights NOT t/f LON
I was idly thinking the other day: whch BA flights nowadays are not either to or from a London airport??
I can only think of SIN-SYD-SIN but maybe there are a small number of others?

Looking at todays flights on the BA website
BA 73 LHR - AUH - MCT & vv
BA125 LHR - BAH - DOH & vv
BA137 LHR - FNA (Lungi Sierra Leone) - ROB (Monrovia)
There will doubtless be other flights like BA137 on other days of the week.
Not having a proper pdf timetable doesn't help but I can't think of any sector that does not start/end at a London airport or is a continuation of one.
I've often wondered who would want to fly one-stop to Muscat or Doha when there are non-stop alternatives available unless a lower fare was offered. Oman air has a single daily evening departure and BA must have significant transfer traffic to Muscat so it probably makes sense to extend BA125 there.
Now that Qatar has joined One World and offers five daily non stops to Doha you wonder how much high yield traffic attracts. Will BA end up serving DOH with codeshares sometime in the future?

There are a whole host of BA franchise services not serving the London market in northern Europe and South Africa if you care to research.
BA has some very valuable corporate contracts into/out of the Oman however the back of the bus (Normally a 77E or 772) just isn't there. Therefore the rather rare tag.
There is no way those contracts would be handed to Qatar anytime soon (Some are a rather rarefied military nature)
I would also add that whilst Qatar onboard product can be world class that airport currently in use at Doha is a bl**dy awful transit point.

As someone said, there are a host of routes if you include the BA Franchises/Subsidiaries.
Comair in South Africa.
Openskies ORY-EWR/JFK.
Sunair (based in CPH/BLL, I think).
LGW-UVF-POS.

the Muscat extension dates back years - back to when Oman Airways flew F-27's and leased small 737's
To get there you normally flew Gulf and changed
BA offered a non change 1 stop
Oman Airways expanded and put in a nonstop UK flight
Presumably BA still make enough (from people with Gold Cards??) to make it worthwhile continuing what is a rather odd service these days

Agree about DOH, is the new DOH still not open? Is it BER all over again?

Flew Kuwait - LHR yesterday on BA, on time, check in staff , crew and service great, low loads - is the B747 too big for the route?
Only thing i noticed was the aircraft was looking a little "tired" outside (G-CIVH)
Needs a deep clean for sure
