Could I make a very gentle suggestion that perhaps whether particular cabin crew members do or don't wrar a hat might be of niche interest and maybe best discussed in a separate thread or alternatively in one of the T&C forums ?

They also had special tasting menus in F on the A380, since discontinued.

I don't think females under MF contracts are offered trousers as a uniform option, its skirts only, I think.

That's correct, when initially given uniform trousers are not available, but they now have the option of wearing trousers, they have to email their manager and state why they want to wear trousers. The union was about to take a case to court since the other fleets could wear trousers and thats what was offered as a compromise. Though many of the women prefer wearing skirts and not many have taken up the trouser option.

Honestly what will the anti-Gatwick brigade come up with next? To suggest that BA cabin crew there are less professional because they do not wear a hat is just ridiculous.
At the moment BA is doing rather well at Gatwick in terms of routes and number of passengers carried. Gatwick cabin crew regularly are given the thumbs up. Maybe this is what rankles with some posters on here.

I was under the impression that Cabin Crew at LGW were under the old "Dan Air" originated contract so they are neither Mixed Fleet or Mainline (old or new contract). Just Saying

No LGW are all employed under the single fleet contract that was introduced when the decision was taken to close the WW base at LGW. WW crew were offered transfer to LHR or to SF LGW on there term and conditions.

In recent months Cabin Managers and Pursers where replaced by a single supervisory role. Almost identical to that of a CSM at MF LHR.

Any truth to the rumour of BA painting an aircraft in retro Landor livery?

I'm surprised it would be allowed under the current IAG/BA cost control regime.

Excellent !
just as Aer Lingus re-painted one of their fleet to reflect their proud Irish heritage.

There's a Lufthansa A321 and a KLM B738 knocking around in their retro liveries too....Why not eh? Although wouldn't it have to be in BEA livery if they did a short haul aircraft?

With respect I think you've missed the whole point of a retro scheme there, Ian.

BEA red square is my favourite candidate. Or BKS/Cambrian/Northeast.

I think I'm correct in guessing that the desire for retro paint schemes comes from the PR department. The kids in PR of BA have shown that nothing exisited before BA. This may well come down the line from the Board but I cannot see them honouring any of the numerous airlines they have swallowed up in anything other than a brochure headed 'Our Noble Heritage' with a one page of logos 'tribute'. It is the way that modern biz works.
