Currently BRS Mayfly shows four Air Europa A 332s operating MAD-BRS on Saturday morning. One of them, AEA 844, arrives BRS at 1040 and departs for BHX at 1140. It returns to BRS from BHX at 0340 on Sunday morning as AEA 845 and departs for MAD at 0440. The other wide-bodied aircraft shown in the 'airlift', a Privilege B 763, returns to MAD after dropping its passengers at BRS, as do the other A332s and most of the other (narrow bodied) football-related aircraft.
Mayfly shows AEA 844 as the only BRS inbound flying on to BHX after disembarking its passenger at BRS.
Are you saying that this has since been changed jon01, with all the wide-bodies now flying direct to BHX?

The Rigby Group has agreed a multi-million-pound deal to buy the corporate jet centre at Birmingham Airport from Marshall Aviation Services. The group already operates jet centres at Coventry and Exeter airports and eight months ago brought them under the banner of XLR Executive Jet Centres, with a company of that name created last month ahead of this deal. The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, is a major step in its expansion strategy as it links its services with one of the UK’s busiest executive flight destinations.

From CAPA - anyone know or heard anything?

Yes, as I already mentioned some posts back, they have taken on all these additional airlines and routes but just don't have the means to handle it all. Disgraceful treatment of their customers!

They were very late in the day with their announcement of these new routes. Many (me included) had long booked their summer holidays and flights. I do hope that they survive in to next year, we will be certain to book Florence.

Their routing is over Iran to/from Qatar and over Musandam Oman for onward flights to the East so flight timings/routes should not be affected
BUT
the insecurity over ongoing politics would put many potential pax off
The third daily EK flight may return sooner than you think...

With the cancellation of HAM-BHX by Eurowings in mind I was wondering how DUS-BHX is going given that Flybe are competitors? However flew AGP-DUS-BHX a couple of days ago as they were considerably cheaper than a direct flight, transfer at DUS was very easy and pleasant experience. A320 on both sectors, I flew Smart, which includes baggage seat selection etc. and still good value, interestingly DUS-BHX had more than twice the number of Smart extra legroom seat rows than AGP-DUS. The DUS-BHX was only a few minutes after Flybe to BHX and yet the A320 was full (virtually). Any thoughts on Eurowings remaining on DUS-BHX?

It would have to be considerably cheaper for me to ever route via Germany when going to Spain ! I'd far rather pay more for the direct alternative, I am not sure any amount of saving would have me do as you did, but I understand that different people do have different priorities.

eggc....fair enough I know probably most wouldn't. I've done it via BCN, ZRH, BRU, FRA, MUC, CPH in the past. I am retired so I have plenty of time to travel and I'm flexible on the date too. My main factors deciding flight choice on this journey (AGP-BHX) are flight times and price. I don't like early red eye specials, had too much of that when I was working, or late night flights. Last Sunday though direct flights were quite expensive, although I did book only 6 days before the journey. As you say there are different priorities.
Is his departure voluntary or was he pushed? Whilst passenger numbers have soared there has been consistent underinvestment in the structure and it has made for a very trying travelling experience .

Its been in the public domain for some time that PK was taking up other interests outside his CEO Job at BHX.
Outside the runway expansion (a big change) and to be fair; a late reworking of the airports outdated baggage systems + "Bus Station Area" for the '60's stands and a new Primary Radar (installed) and enhanced Ground Movement Radar to come.
A good 7 out of 10.
His stewardship has failed to produce a program of planned and implemented expansion of the (admittedly cramped) terminal facilities hemmed in by a railway and roads.
This problem goes back to the 1930's. Plans ! Yep: bits, bytes, hot air & Papyrus galore.
Last and not least; the sorry/soggy saga of the runway 33 ILS.
Overall a decent job done.
CAT III (no relation of; PK or connection in anyway with, BHX other than an infrequent passenger).
