They have expanded at a steady rate but have a very good product both in the airline and the holiday company. I know they have bought a lot of B738 but the B733 are long in the tooth now and are coming to the end of their life, I can only speak for Manchester but there is only 1 B733 left and that is due to finish here shortly however they have certainly earned their bread over the years and I am sure PM did s good deal with Boeing as the B738 comes to the end of it`s production life and the MAX only just getting going.

The biggest contributor to the downfall of Courtline was the economy, and a sterling crisis, which lead to severe foreign exchange restrictions, at a time when they were expanding aggressively.
...to say nothing of revolutions/Government changes in Portugal, Spain and Greece.

I see DY as more of a Courtline than Jet2 that ultimately could go pop (again in similar scenario of crashing economy or massive fuel hike)

Jet2 confirmation of the new routes and capacity for 2018 which is a substantial increase as expected per the earlier posts.

To be fair the Cancelled EK has caused me a lot of ball ache, Coming back from Mauritius in October I now have a 9 hour layover in DXB rather than 2. Would probably have gone from MAN if I had known this in advance.

cheesebag, if the change occurred after your booking, surely you are entitled to rebook a better alternative with the carrier?

As it's a cancelled rather than a rescheduled flight I guess that you have more rights, that said, I would be surprised if Virgin Hols and Emirates weren't sympathetic in the circumstances.

I know it might be messy for transfers but you might be able to fly out of Brum, as planned and back into Manchester, as I have done before.

We have ended up with a 6.5 hours transit in Dubai up from 2.5 hours. Rang Emirates and they said if transit was over 8 hours they would offer a hotel room. I was only asking for a lounge but nothing doing as below the 8 hour threshold! Might be worth you ringing them.

We changed outbound flight to the evening before - Emirates had put us on the lunchtime flight out without asking. Did this through Thomas Cook free of charge. Complete holiday is booked through them.

We had no notification from anyone. I spotted the problem in this and another forum.

Emirates did not email me as flights not yet ticketed, they said. Thomas Cook say they have not had an email from Emirates although Emirates insist that one will have been sent but they offered no proof just said it is not possible that an email has not been sent.

I only picked the cancellation of EK42 from the forums. No email from Emirates (booked direct with them)
Checked on Manage my Booking and a banner stated my flight had been cancelled and would I accept the later EK40 at 13.30
As we are overnighting in the airside hotel at DXB, I accepted the change-it still gives us 8 hours before our next flight at 09.00 the next day.
A reply came up to "please phone Emirates to confirm the change".
Before I could phone them the next day I rechecked MMB and they had accepted the change on-line,allocated the same seats but deleted the chauffeur. which I entered for the new flight.
The new itinerary was emailed to me together with new etickets showing the changes.
I wonder how long before the flight the cancellation would have been advised?

Thank goodness for airline travel forums

EK

ssflyer

Same seats?

Are they having a laugh - surely EK39/40 will change to the A380. I just assumed it hadn't made the booking engines as yet.

I know EK39/40 is still advertised as the 77W but what justification can there be for not adding the 380 other than the lack of 615 seat versions available or are the 68000-70000 a month getting dirt cheap fares?

I realise from day one that EK41/2 was under threat and have no quarrel with the cancellation, as it has never managed great loads outside of the school holidays but surely Emirates are not going to hand over thousand of passengers a month to the competition or are they hoping they will use EK at MAN, LHR or LGW? It made perfect sense to cut EK41/2 and increase EK39/40 unless cargo will be an issue.

What will the cancellation of EK41/42 mean in lost revenue to the airport? Will pax numbers have an impact? Was Business class busy on this flight? Were the yields poor? I hope they don't allocate the flight numbers to another destination.

[surely EK39/40 will change to the A380]
I hope not, we still prefer the J class seating in the 777 to the 380.
In the latter you may have the benefit of aisle access but it entails a sideways shimmy to get out. I am 'normal' size but if I was any wider it would entail a very, very tight squeeze.

The reduction of 777 ops throughout the UK has given EK a slight problem with the movement of cargo.
Some cargo will be hauled up to NCL or even Scotland. Some may even be sent over to the near continent.
It may well mean more pure cargo flights may be added from somewhere in the not to distant future.

On a separate note, EK are to operate a flight on behalf of JLR to the US on the 17th May.
A B77F is being used and I am hearing it may not not be the only flight to operate.
Flights could operate on an ad-hoc basis only.

I agree... Thank goodness for airline forums.

As I'm over 8 hours Emirates are putting me and my family up in a hotel overnight, Still get home at 11.25 am so no issues with missing work or School.

A couple of "upgrades" to the scheduled cargo flights at BHX

The Night Express SH360 has been upgraded to a Zimex ATR72
The Flightline Metro from Baden-Baden has been upgraded to an Airest SF340
