I'll start worrying if we turn West after takeoff from St Mawgan (sorry, Newquay)

I'm also flying from Newquay to Birmingham with Flybe in a few months. My concern is having sufficient time between landing at Newquay from the Scilly Isles and departing from Birmingham. I guess Newquay is seen mainly as a destination, rather than a air hub.

Businesstraveller, Depends if you are arriving at Newquay's peak hour and which terminal your connecting flight is in. Just joking

National passenger carrier Air India on Wednesday announced that it has entered into a codeshare agreement with European airline Flybe.

According to the national carrier, tickets under the new agreement will be available from May 10, with travel effective from June 1.

Further the airline said that the codeshare partnership will enable travellers using Flybe's multi-frequency Birmingham services from Belfast City, Edinburgh and Glasgow to book seamless flights onward to New Delhi.

"Under the unilateral agreement, Air India (AI) will place its marketing code on these Flybe flights (BE)," the national carrier said in a statement.

A codeshare agreement allows two airlines to sell seats on each others' flights in order to provide passengers with a wider choice of destinations.

"Air India is continuously working towards providing seamless connectivity to its passenger across routes and with our agreement with Flybe, Air India passengers will have an unmatched connectivity in UK," said Ashwani Lohani, chairman and managing director, Air India in a statement

Only temporary, due to 'aircraft redeployment'.

Today AAL131 taxied up to A2 and held short for about 20 mins, but then had to go back around rwy15 left on exit 15, down echo, delta and alpha, due to traffic from rear to take off, and took off with a 40 min delay in total. Anybody know the reason for this? Medical emergency or what?

You don't say whether it returned to stand or not?

If it didn't go back to stand then it may have had a problem which was solved.
Alternatively it may just have been waiting for it's departure slot, which if that was the case I am surprised it wasn't held in the loop to the right of A2 and A1.

Thomas Cook Airlines

I've noticed on the Thomas Cook web site that there is a flight from Birmingham to Florida on 21st May, does anyone have any information on this flight and whether this is going to lead to a new regular service?

Also will an aircraft position in for this flight or will it just be a stop on a service from another airport?

Thomas Cook Airlines

Further to the previous post, I've just noticed that this is not for this year, but 2017.

TCX to Florid and Czech Airlines

The TCX flight to Orlando next year is I believe a one off. They operated one last year or the year before I think in April. It will be an A330 and I guess position in from MAN or LGW. No idea why they operate these random one off flights, I don't get why TCX don't offer any regular long haul from BHX.

On another note was at BHX today to pick up a friend coming in from Prague, arrivals was super busy and the departure and arrival boards looked very healthy, great to see BHX so buzzing. My friend flew in on an ATR!! This seems to be happening a lot with Czech not to be negative but it's not the greatest start to see so many downgrades on a new route?? My friend commented that it was a long way to go on a prop she said it wasn't the nicest of flights. I hope all is well with BHX-PRG!!

If the EDI services were anything to go by they'll spontaneously cease never to return...

Czech

Czech loads have been up and down a bit but early days. The booking engine for the next few weeks show the 319 so it will be interesting if the ATR turns up again.

As for the general amount of traffic a pretty impressive start to the IT's with Thomson operating between 8 and 10 flights a day with a further 737 arriving at the end of next week and then the 6th short-haul aircraft a week later.

Thomas Cook already have 4 based flying between 3 and 7 flights a day, Air Transat restart this week, Wizz Warsaw moves to three a week from next Saturday and the following week Bucharest starts.

Then towards the end of the month Vueling add flights and flybe start their full French service.

One million passengers was or could still be a possibility based on what is operating but with the traffic heading east now decreasing for the low season it might fall short but quite incredible to even think it had a chance in the first place. It hasn't been anywhere near one million in May before.

The first three class Emirates A380 was in today with more to follow as I had predicted. EK41/2 has also seen some three class 77W's as well but only to be expected.

Porto Santo

Hi all

I am booked on to a flight operated by Thomson to Porto Santo in July. I note that last year Thomson were operating a 737 from BHX, MAN & LGW to Porto Santo on a weekly basis.

I have just booked my seats and the configuration looks more like a 757. Would this be the case for such a small island? Were these flights popular last season?

Regards

Matt

Birmingham is a B757 this summer, Gatwick and Manchester are on a B737 but run all summer. Birmingham only has departures 23 May - 26 Sep

Thanks Jon

Seems a bit unusual for BHX to have a larger aircraft? Wonder what the load factors were like last season?

April pax up 13.2%

Another stunning month - figures from BHX themselves.

https://www.birminghamairport.co.uk/...reaking-april/

An early Easter didn't affect April too much although some routes went downhill a bit towards the back end of April.

mattjwood

Reasonably late change I believe with FNC & PXO originally down as 738's but Monday did have Hurghada, which has been cancelled and Bodrum and Dalaman still scheduled so they have juggled the aircraft. A second Corfu will start shortly which was not originally scheduled then there was Agadir which was released for a few weeks then replaced by a second Marrakech and that lasted a few weeks in the brochure before getting the chop so Monday has beena difficult day to keep track of.
