easyjet 6 fewer rotations and add nearly 2000 pax - I assume low-yielding going by the high season cuts but at least a big increase for winter.

Has Copenhagen been reduced or is it feeling the impact of the 4 daily service 75 miles down the road?

Birmingham-Copenhagen is likely being pincered from 3 sides as LTN has seen big expansion on the route from Easyjet and Ryanair, as has MAN from SAS and Easyjet and I think BRS has seen slight increases from Easyjet too.

The past few weeks has seen a reduced operation,I think could be a seasonal thing.
The morning SK2533/4 has not operated, and the evening SK2535/6 has seen a CRJ900 on the service.
However at the start of the past week a return to the normal 2x daily op.with a mixture of A320/319s.
The August figures may give us a better idea how we are being affected by services elsewhere.

MEB3

Just a thought, with no research having been undertaken, BHX is triple daily Emirates, is that the highest frequency service where neither of the other two MEB3 operate?

No, LGW is also 3 daily. Neither QR or EY fly there.

Copenhagen July 2015

Stansted (-86%), Heathrow (-2%), Manchester (-1%) and Bristol (-19%)

Luton (+100% with 35,669 Pax)

UK total all airports +14%

Luton is the winner

Potential danger for BHX is that the dumping of seats from LTN, and an unsustainable price war between FR and EZY could lead to the business orientated service being watered down to a point where the service could become unviable. Meanwhile at LTN one of the two will have to blink, seat volumes will drop substantially, but not until after the BHX service may have been curtailed.

A lose-lose situation for all concerned. Hopefully, a scenario that will not play out BHX-wise.

Copenhagen

Boeing737-8

In my opinion the simple answer is yes. SAS have increased BHX to double daily Airbus but pax have not increased from when it was one CRJ9 and one Airbus. Whatever you think of SAS they would not have committed mainline aircraft to the route if they thought there wan't a chance of filling them both.

bhx bod is correct in that the July adjustment happens each year but the main difference to 2014 is that they kept the one flight this year was the CRJ9 compared to 2014 when it was all Airbus.

In that sense SAS got it right as 3941 pax over 54 flights is an average of 73, which is a load factor of 81% compared to 65% in June, 62% in May and 61% in April. This route before the Luton surge was around 70-75%.

ATNotts

I agree a bit of a worry and winter is still showing double Airbus until Christmas when action like last year has been taken and it becomes all CRJ9 until summer.

In general

Also the other factor Luton - CPH is clearly point to point but BHX-CPH is clearly not aimed at this market any longer.

When the service went double daily Airbus you could pick up a return for under £100 well in advance but these seem to have disappeared and a couple of the connecting flights of longer distance are coming in cheaper than CPH as a final destination.

Helsinki came in at £35 cheaper (TLL & WAW as well) and closer to CPH, Billund is also less than CPH as a final destination. Stockholm which apparently receives a lot a transits is actually fairly expensive and the same with Oslo.

If Norwegian ever entered the fray direct to HEL, ARN or OSL it could really stir things up although I would imagine they would be low frequency.

CPH

With LTN having 8 flights a day it gives the flyers so much choose of timing of when there want to fly. Not only does LTN have lots of flights but the 2 low cost airlines are so cheap. I went for a day trip a few weeks ago for about £28. Looking now every day in Novemeber and most in December it's £9.99 with Ryanair and £13.99 with easyjet. I don't think SAS will ever be that cheap.

Stop kidding yourself on those fares for heavens sake !

What did it REALLY cost you with Airport taxes , credit charges, ADP etc...- REALLY !

Thats the real price - just think about it.

Those flexible fares operators de-bundled fares systems are a Tesco style lie.

As much most of the so called taxes duties etc are really part of the true fare as is ADP they not optional are they !

It cost me £28. That's with charges included. Just looking now on Ryanair and its £9.99 each way. So £20 for a day trip in Copenhagen.

Right now its not through - for a realist time frame with Easy its nearer £50 and Ryan typically £60 +

The below tenner is one way and excludes the card fee .

Return leg as almost always between £40 and £60 plus card fee .

And that at 60 days out.

Much closer and you will be looking at something in the region of £90 + return.

And its' not a criticism it's simply the flexible fares business model working
(REFUSE TO CALL them Low Cost or LCC- they are not)

BTW i do use them and my next trip will be Orange to and from Porto but from a port rather further south

The £9.99 fare includes all fees. The only other fee is use of credit card which is .50p or use a debit card and get it for £19.98 return. This is in November and any months after apart from around Christmas. Easyjet seem to be a bit more but not much.
