Are they having a laugh - surely EK39/40 will change to the A380. I just assumed it hadn't made the booking engines as yet."

No idea but with EK42 not running in May, it returns again in June, July and August .... to disappear again in September ...
Its either September onwards hasn't been released yet, or there's some serious flight load management going on with slots popping up and down.

All these new services are OK spotting wise but user wise they are creating chaos at the airport. As a regular off peak user of the airport I have recently discovered that there is no off peak period at Brum anymore! Fortunately (as a regular) I know a few little tricks that still just about enables me to make the whole process of using BHX tolerable. Nevertheless, the fact remains that the terminal is now too small for the number of passengers it handles. Of course the management will tell us otherwise but they wouldn't admit the truth would they!

Forcing all passengers though the Duty Free shop and into the main terminal, means that 'Eurohub' passengers add to the overcrowding. If there was an option to turn left after security, then flybe and Ryanair passengers could go straight there. There may not be as many shops in the Eurohub, but the main needs are there; food, drink, newsagents and books, chemists, duty free are all there.

Why did the management of this airport decide to change the pick up area outside the terminal at the start of the summer, when they have had all winter to do it? It smacks of a council run mentality and waiting until the new financial year. It has made the traffic flow into the airport very difficult and slow.
I also see that a number of new bussing gates appear ready to use,but I hope that the airport has bought some more busses for these passengers..On the way to work the other day I saw a skip that was full of telephones the airport has discarded. One of the workers told me there were over one thousand five hundred telephones in it. What a waste, yet they cannot restore the glidepath on RW 33.

The article mentions a people mover from the terminal to the airport but where will it deposit them and how will passengers get to the aircraft?I cannot see this making the journey from London any quicker than the current situation.

I take your point but there's no point in building a terminal until you've built the station!
BHX is suffering the UK national infrastructure disease, and has done since the day the new site was planned back in the 1970s. Namely, the UK designs for for yesterday, rarely for today and never for the future.
That's why our road, rail and airport network is woefully inadequate, and streets behind much of what is in place in mainland Europe. Without being political, if you put infrastructure into the hands of profit making organisations (or organisations who's modus operandii is to return profit) the UK disease will proliferate.

There are countless other examples but we shouldn't to turn this thread into a topic on woeful UK infrastructure!

The three moving walkways that were u/s were between T1 and the station. I didn't venture to T2 however I know that at least two of them are broken as I looked through the doors. Furthermore, the escalator on the T3 car park is also not working as is the escalator from the platforms to the concourse in the station (this is probably the responsibility of Network Rail).
The two escalators in the station to the skylink were replaced a couple of months ago and now sound much healthier (and look smarter). OTIS seem pretty useless at repairing any of the equipment in the skylink. If they do fix it it will last for two days before its broken again...
