That's good news. No more expensive than MAN. Now for the business community to start booking BHX-Doha.

The booking engine can be manipulated to get Madrid up as well FR2082 four times a week but all sold out. I wonder if this is another flight about to be announced. I believe the flight number was Madrid - Ibiza this summer.

Verona should be a good one for summer and I would be happy for them to keep away from Bergamo as flybe are doing very nicely but in summer I suppose you could say two different markets although flybe do carry block-bookings. Fares were light at times on the BGY but Monty Gordo was right it was packed at times.

Rotterdam is a strange one in as much as the start date and I too fear it might not see the light of day.

Verona/Madrid

Nice to see FR seem to be cautiously expanding at BHX. Verona is a canny choice, Verona itself is a lovely city and is mid way between Milan and Venice with an excellent train service to both. With the days and timings it will be very easy to do a twin city break. Madrid however, can it sustain 3 carriers if FR do start? Personally I would rather see IB have a chance to bed in on this route given their connectivity through their Madrid hub. Then again Barcelona seems to be doing OK with 4 carriers although a different market to Madrid. I wonder what Norwegian's plans are at BHX, they now have competition on all their routes ex BHX and have the least frequent schedules compared to their competitors.

I wonder what tomorrow's route announcement will be, the alleged reductions being offered in landing charges is certainly having the desired effect!

Whilst I don't think that any reductions in charges would be sniffed at by airlines, I can't see that it would be a deal breaker on it's own.

By far the biggest factors in bringing in new business will surely be demand from the travelling public (doesn't matter how low the fares are if there isn't demand) and the current comparatively low cost of fuel which makes what might be marginal routes worth a punt.

I can't see that fares have dropped all that much in the last couple of years, whereas crude prices have more than halved, so break even loads are probably lower than they would have been when oil was $100 / barrel.

It certainly looks like a direct retaliation to the Iberia service as those are the days of the IBS operation too. The same thing happened to Manchester a couple of years ago and didn't end well. Norwegian still have their twice weekly service on days 4 & 7.

Daza all a tad confusing.

Norwegian boss said last week that any plans for long haul from Manchester and Birmingham would be with 737MAX when they arrive from mid 2017.

Yet they will only get you to Boston New York Dubai.

So India or beyond would have to be a 787 surely, unless the MAX stops for fuel somewhere ?

If you notice Norwegian never seem to let the facts get in the way of a good headline.

Indeed, looks like a steady line of diversions heading north now.

Olton Pete, ref your comment on the MAN thread, what were the 4 x 777s and the 787 you mentioned. I assume they were all diverts.

Only 2 were diverts MANFOD, an AI 773 and a BA 772. Others were regular BHX flights.
