It's also annoying when people compare London (a city) to the Northwest (a region) as it's not a like-for-like comparison.

Been playing with

https://www.google.co.uk/flights/

If you input Manchester to wherever we have a direct long haul flight its appears to be one of the few price comparison web sites that actually show our services ! (Albeit in some cases at base of page BUT at least they are on the 1st page not buried as per most sites).

Only one I could not find direct was Singapore.

Even Toronto with Rouge appeared !

MAN could do worse than add it to their own site !

FR

Make of this what you will.

The timings and frquencies of the DUB flights have all changed from last week. I still don't think we know the full story for DUB as yet.

More importantly ZAD,LIS and MXP now appear in the MAN drop down menus

It appears there is a new base in LIS and MAN is one of the routes

LIS is a LIS based route, MXP is only May-June while BGY is closed, ZAD is 2 weekly MAN based.

I really hope FR do not affect TP too much. Would rather have 12 weekly with connections than a 3-4 weekly flight without......

Couldn't agree more.

Do you know the LIS frequency

Looks to be 3 weekly at the moment, but all flights may not be loaded or may not be loaded correctly yet.

Ryanair Lisbon-Manchester now on Ryanair site.

Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun A 2035 D 2100

Hopefully these times should not tread on TAP's shoes as late night ex-MAN isn't everybody's idea of fun.

I think Lufthansa's UK general manager needs to brush up on his knowledge slightly, as he clearly does not know about where his airline or partners fly:

This will mean a change for Manchester passengers using the routes to
Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart.
I suppose in his defence, yes passengers from Manchester will see a change on the Stuttgart route, in that they can no longer fly direct

On a slightly more positive note:

He said 2014 would see newer, larger aircraft being operated from Manchester, leading to an 11% increase in capacity
Obviously means more use of A321 equipment on FRA and more A320's and A321's on MUC, but 11% is quite a decent increase based on the level of frequency offered.

More here (subscription is needed but free and if you are interested in MAN usually has good articles):

Couple of other semi-interesting remarks.

First up....

"He said 50% of passengers to Munich and Frankfurt were travelling onward within the global network, both to destinations in Europe such as Vienna in Austria, but further afield to China and South Africa."

I'm sure it used to be a higher number of connecting passengers? The increase to FRA and MUC wasn't too bad at 4.3%

The other one:

"Across all group businesses - including Germanwings, Austria and Brussels Airlines - Lufhansa operates 114 flights per week."

Surely not including the Austrian ski flights? Otherwise are we waiting for an announcement?

I did see that, but give he talked about MAN-STR too, I didn't pin too much hope on the accuracy of the article unless the Innsbruck winter flights are included.

However, 114 flights a week, maybe a daily route to VIE is on the cards. Put it this way, current capacity for July 2014 looks like:

Brussels: 21 weekly
Frankfurt: 28 weekly
Munich: 21 weekly
Hamburg: 11
Dusseldorf: 17

98 weekly flights. Lets add the pretend 5 weekly STR and that's 103. 7 weekly VIE and then maybe 4 weekly variation of other schedules.

Could be possible but unlikely.

Making it daily ex-Sat for Vienna leaves 5 flights a week.. enough for an extra weekday service to Hamburg operating lunchtime/early afternoon. And replace the Stuttgart service with a 4th weekdaily Dusseldorf or Brussels service?

Dusseldorf ran at 4 daily in the week last summer so with that and the loss of Stuttgart means that we need the '11% increase' to counter that so not to have a large decrease this year.

However, if the article is accurate, it will be interesting to see if the extra 16 one way flights materialise.

Is Dusseldorf only showing 17 flights a week? That means only 2 flights on 4 days. Is it 3 or 4 by flybe on weekdays?

And Hamburg only 11 a week means a single flight on 3 days. I can remember when LH introduced a third daily flight Mon-Fri. I guess the competition from EZY has affected that route.

So it's the weekend services that are light. No Hamburg on a Saturday - we travelled on the Sat. morning flight in March 2012, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was about half full.

It will be interesting to see if those 114 weekly flights materialise, and if so, to where.

Don't forget the 4U CGN service. Also the Cpt on the last 4U STR flight from MAN said "See you next summer" ! - Could be nothing in that though.

Appreciate all the positivity but in fairness if LH or their group partners were going to introduce new services or frequencies, wouldn't they have used the opportunity of a news-making press release to publicise them?

And yes, as the 96er has said, don't forget the Germanwings flights to CGN.

They haven't, therefore I simply expect a bit of capacity shuffling.

The A321 is already a regular on FRA flights isn't it?
Also more than occasionally on MUC too.
