Since the announcement that Newcastle was a part of British Regional route development plans for 2013 there has been silence. Anyone heard anything?

I am somewhat surprised LBA could not sustain some sort if base for bmiR?
Or is it that bmiR could not sustain some sort of base at LBA?

One airline seems to have done 'quite well' over the last 10 years and others have moved in too. One of the most recent 'new routes' was actually an old Midland (bmi) route that bmiR used to operate.

Can you supply some fuel cost figures VickersViscount to back up your claims? Personally, I believe you're missing the point entirely. It's not what it costs to run so much as how you choose to use it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting for a second that I know any better but I'm quite sure that the owners have a vested interest in developing the business appropriately and that they know exactly what would work and wouldn't.

Good idea, go back to "British Midland", and preferably "BD"!

I see echoes of Pan Am here, particularly with an airline flying puddle jumpers staffed by people clinging to the long dead legend of a former global airline.

There was no connection between the many Pan Ams, Regional was a part of BD for many, many years.

Skipness - yes bmir were a full subsidiary of bmi until sold not so long ago.
Rebranding is expensive - but the bmi name as a whole is tarnished - it's viewed as a defunct airline bought by BA. If bmir want to save the cost of rebranding that might be very sensible. If there is good reason to rebrand, then it should be to a new identity that can be shaped by current bmir management, and not try to clothe themselves in the mantle of the past.

Hi,

Does anybody know, or can tell me where i can find out what the LF for Bristol - Hamburg and Bristol Frankfurt have been looking like?

Or indeed LF on any BMIr flight.

Cheers

706 pax on the Bristol - Hamburg flights in March, so that's around 16 per flight with five round trips per week, I think.........

I agree with Barling Magna's calculation. There were 21 rotatons (42 legs) on BRS-HAM in March which with a total of 706 passengers gives an average load of 16.8.

The route started part way through February and 522 passengers were carried in that month giving an average load of 18.6.

BRS-FRA didn't start until April - the CAA, from whose stats the above figures were taken, will be reporting April's numbers in a couple of weeks's time.

It's not been possible to ascertain the average monthly loads on bmi regional's BRS-ABZ because Eastern also operated the route (until a couple of weeks ago).

Anybody know why BMI Regional flew from Newcastle to Stansted this afternoon???

Stansted arrivals show flight BM8030 at 15:35 from Newcastle.

Feasability...

All,

What are peoples views on feasability of BMIr opening a base at SOU?

This is total speculation with no news etc behind it before anyone asks.

I am merely interested in peoples views on the matter?

I know that back in 2006 BMIr used to fly SOU - AMS 4x week?

Personally i think Flybe would undercut any route out of SOU ruthlessly to hold on to their SOU dominance.
