So, buy airline for next to nothing, lose contracts, sell off a/c or return to lessor, keep everyone on dark so most people quit before things are wrapped up, walk away with tidy little profit.
Genius.

This comes as a surprise to people because.......?

These guys have had long time to get their plans organised and the deafening silence doesn't give me a good feeling that things are going to work out well.

Call me a pessimist if you like but the number of resignations tells its own story.

While the lack of a dedicated bmir public facing website (as opposed to the IAG owned flybmi.com) is not a good sign I am a little puzzled as to what will likely happen to passengers with confirmed and paid bookings. Would the CAA *really* let an airline take bookings beyond the end of October if there were doubts as to the airline's intention to provide said transportation facility ?

Apparently the ex regie EMB was the one at the FAB airshow with a repaint curtesy of Embraer, can't find the link though.

G-EMBP, I remember the day it rolled out the factory.
Easy transaction for all involved, as it remains on the UK register.

Makes me wonder what is next on the cards for BMR, not much good news filtering through.

Have BD regional put in for any of the ABZ/EDI/GLA slots at LHR that BA have to divest?

Regional jets

Different continent and different market but still 50-seat jets.

Comair to Cease Operations - Jul 27, 2012

Another 62 jets hitting the second-hand market although no doubt some of these will go straight to scrap and at best the desert.

It is difficult to argue with the sale of any 35-50 seat jet these days if you can find a buyer but it must be mighty uncomfortable to know that the aircraft are not actually owned by British Midland Regional Ltd but an associated company especially with so little known about the future plan.

The winter schedule still looks in tact but of course some routes now without code-shares and some with competition.

When the Brussels routes started, there was some horse trading with BMI mainline giving routes over to SN out of Heathrow, the payback was BMIr running some routes for SN out of the regions, so no real suprise that they have reverted back.

The 135 and 145 are not economic to operate on scheduled passenger services, thats why they are parked up around the world. Eastern are using them mostly for charter work, where all the seats are sold everytime, even if they are not occupied, and the aircraft are leased cheaply.

For any operation out of LHR a bigger aircraft is required. The competition (flybe) are running around with more efficient aircraft, and even they are struggling, so I cant see Bmir having any better luck with a patchy route network, innefficient fleet, legacy issues divorcing the company from its parent and a muddled business plan.

Got it in one Taxi Driver. Think everyone on here if they were honest would agree. I have never heard of a new owner coming in only to release nothing about their future plans .

There must be some sort of "plan". There are some experienced people involved>

Re-registering and transferring aircraft to holding companies is fairly standard. I wouldnt call it asset stripping as the aircraft are not worth a great deal, and the cost of keeping the company operating each day will out weigh any value.

If they are not going to replace the fleet, then they will have to diversify, and find more profitable work for the existing aircraft.

Surely they need to be announce in the next few weeks, rather than months? Doesn't seem like 4 routes will provide work for all the spare aircraft, I guess we'll need to wait and see - hopefully for not too much longer!

When is the decision on the airbus contract due? Must be soon...

Obviously, how to wear a name badge is a greater concern. The padding is getting a little tedious now.

I believe an announcement is overdue on the airbus contract which is now fairly critical. So I expect some guff to be emailed out this week to fill the time and to be informed by the media of the decision.
