It was a long time ago

From memory Maersk did serve Oslo from BHX

Just picking up on OP's idea, could they serve a Scandinavian point on a w pattern from say one of the Scottish points or Newcastle.

What's the effective range of a E145 with full pax and luggage. Wiki gives a fig of 1550 NM for the 145LR variant but not the corresponding payload and BMIR may be operating a different variant.

BHX-HEL is approx 1150 NM (Slightly unrealistic I suspect - A statistical problem I know)) from Great Circle Mapper (and Oslo approx 730 NM)

New SVG Routes

Does anyone know if BM are planning to base a aircraft in SVG to operate the new SVG-TOS and SVG-EVE routes being launched in January or are BM going to add a direct flight from one of it's UK bases such as BHX or EDI to SVG ?

BM @ EDI

BM look as is they are planning to make changes to two routes operated from EDI.

The first route is ZRH (posted weeks ago on this thread). There are no flights available to book on the route from the end of October. Is anyone able confirm if the route is being dropped or just suspended for the winter?. BM will have competition on the route if it does resume for S14. Edelweiss Air, who are owned by LX, have today announced that they will a add a 2 x weekly A320 service from 12th May 2014.

The second route is BRU. BM will reduce the frequency from 18 (W12) to 11 x weekly from the 3rd of November and the route appears to be being dropped altogether from 31st of December as flights are not available to book after that date. This means BM will start 2014 operating just CPH and MAN and what looks like 1 based aircraft.

A MAN based aircraft is to operate all MAN flights apart from the 1 Sunday roundtrip and a GLA based aircraft operating 1 of the 2 weekday flights.

That leaves the EDI based aircraft to operate daily to CPH and a Sunday service to MAN. That means the aircraft will be sat doing nothing until late afternoon every weekday.

Does anyone know if another route is planned for EDI or is this the begining of the end for BM's EDI base?

Thanks for the negative reply on a subject you obviously know nothing about.

Delighted at BMI's recent success, just wondering if the company have fleet replacement on there minds? And also has the cost base changed much? I would hope so.

I read an interview recently which stated that they would eventually be looking for a 100 seat a/c as the correct size for the companies operation

ABZ-OSL?

More a viewer than a poster but happened upon this bit of info. Are BM launching ABZ- OSL? Was on a random website and an advert popped up advertising this route. Have taken some screenshots. Apologies if this has already been spotted and if the links are not the correct way to do things but I'm new to posting screenshots to a forum from an iPhone!

I do love BM for trying but their strategy seems flawed going by the article here: TravelMole - News

Keen to salvage the good will and recognition of the brand while also promoting its 'Britishness', bmi regional will drop the regional and become 'bmi' during the course of 2014.
The airline also hopes to fly more domestic routes for countries in mainland Europe, starting in January with the first scheduled services connecting Stavanger with Harstad and Tromsø in northern Norway.
Rebrand as BMI to concentrate on "Britishness" yet launch domestic Norwegian routes too?

We're also looking to work closer with some of the big European carriers and may look to feed some of the European carrier networks.
Yet no codeshares/mileage earning/FF benefits on present routes into STAR hubs like CPH, BRU, ZRH, FRA etc? Surely these are the types of feed they're talking about.

Seems to be all talk and no action so far. Not meaning to be negative but all they're proposing is what bmi regional used to do when a STAR member. Why didn't they link up on these routes when they became independent? They've already had to drop or downgrade certain routes to STAR hubs. Talk about shutting the stable door once the horse has bolted!

Good luck on ABZ-OSL but hasn't it been tried before by City Star?

BM appear to be dropping a number of routes over the next couple of months. Below are a complete list of the routes along with the date that flights are no longer available to book from.

EDI - ZRH - Not available to book from 27OCT13
BHX - TLS - Not available to book from 04NOV13
BRS - HAJ - Not available to book from 04NOV13
MAN - LYS - Not available to book from 11NOV13
EDI - BRU - Not available to book from 01JAN14

Personally I find this schedule a bit disappointing as I was under the impression that BM were planning to operate a direct flight from SVG to EVE and a separate flight from SVG-TOS. This was based on the wording of the press release.
The schedule for the new service is:

BM1901 06:40 SVG 08:35 EVE 08:55 TOS 09:25 ER4 123
BM1905 13:30 SVG 15:25 EVE 15:45 TOS 16:15 ER4 45

BM1902 10:00 TOS 10:30 EVE 10:55 SVG 12:50 ER4 123
BM1906 16:45 TOS 17:15 EVE 17:40 SVG 19:35 ER4 45

BM @ BHX

Have to say the BM base at BHX has been a decidedly damp squib so far, LYS and TLS dropped, leaving just GOT and BLL. I hear that the loads on both remaining routes are not great either so how long before they are cancelled or suspended? BM have an excellent product, I have flown a few times with them and have always enjoyed the experience, it's a shame they aren't doing better at BHX

BHX-TLS

Toulouse

Work colleague contacted them today re his booking on 3-11 and they would not confirm or deny the service is cancelled.

Come on, not bookable in GDS or on the airline website what is going on. Is this just a delay to hang on to the money? There is not going to be any slot or aircraft problems for the route as BHX has an 145 sitting on the ground between BLL and GOT and neither airport is slot restricted at the times of operation.

GF

GOT is showing signs of life and Billund picked up in August.

bmi regional wins 'Airline of the year'

Flights across the UK and Europe with bmi regional - bmi regional wins 'Airline of the year'

"3 October 2013: bmi regional, the UK’s most punctual scheduled airline, has won the prestigious Silver Airline of the Year award at the annual European Regions Airline Association (ERAA) conference in Salzburg, Austria."

Great stuff. Well Done

It's probably quite an appropriate time to mention a bit about Regional and clear a few things up.

To the people looking in, I can see why things can see a bit unstable. Having moved a long way from the scrap heap over a year ago, things are being built back up. It's important to seek ventures that best suit the company and so far, it would seem that trying new things out is the best course of action.

The chances of base alterations are undoubtly on the cards as this would best suit the current business model. More on that in the new year I'm sure.

More importantly there are some quite interesting ideas been thrown around. These will come out in due course and its probably not fair to mention them as yet - those amongst you with the right sources will pick them out I'm sure.

As for new routes for the winter? Well there is a lot of training going on behind the scenes to build up steam for next year, couple that with aircraft utilisation on a lot of charter work over the coming months and it's unlikely you'll see much in the way of schedule stuff.

My money will be on next year being, bigger, better and slicker than the last.

In the mean time, I'll be "Streamlined for replies."

All the best
