Three things:

1) Negativity has no place in this thread. End of.

2) I hate to hate to point out the obvious about the BHX stuff but as I mentioned in previous posts, BMIR, positive news and it seems I was correct

3) See first point.

All the best,

Not too tactful there with hind sight. My negativity remark in the previous post was not aimed at the news dropping ABZ Groningen route!

Are you new here?
Looking at flybe and the pain they're undergoing, it would be very interesting to see what's going on at BMI Regional under similar trading conditions.

Indeed, LBIA, but a previous poster stated that LBA-BRU and EMA-BRU will be operated by the ER3 in S13. I was just after clarification of the start dates (specifically for EMA-BRU) and ways of confirming it given its website no longer states the aircraft type. But since posting I've found it out using OTAs.

Doesn't look like the Bond brothers have much influence on competition in their shareholdings

With a merger like that perhaps we might see the embraer back at Stornoway. After all was it not Bmi who started a Sunday service there back in 02 and causing uproar over the sabath.
Might be a way to attract more flights there too. (Sorry this is off topic ( . Just got me thinking. I Thought RYR had looked at Stornoway once.
Either way I hope bmir do well if they merge.

Looks as if the last GRQ service will operate on the 8th February 2013.

Bristol to Verona

Has anyone heard of the new BMI Regional flight from Bristol to Verona in the Summer 2013 season? This is a new weekly charter service, exclusive to the tour operator Inghams. Flight operates on a Saturday.

Flight Times

Outward - BM999 BRS 13.50 - VRN 17.00.

Return - BM998 VRN 17.45 - BRS 19.05

Does anyone know the aircraft type, Embraer 135 or 145?

Where does the incoming aircraft arrive from for the 13.50 flight to Verona?

I checked the BMI website and there does not appear to be any flights on a Saturday from Aberdeen, Frankfurt or Hamburg. Does BMI fly to any additional destinations? Thought it might be the Bastia but this operates on a Sunday so it cannot be the case.

Thanks.

New routes from Birmingham

The new Birmingham BMIR flights are now loaded into Amadeus

Mon-Fri BHX-TLS 0700 0950 BM1421 ER4
Mon-Fri TLS-BHX 1020 1115 BM1422 ER4
Sun BHX-TLS 1145 1435 BM1421 ER4
Sun TLS-BHX 1505 1600 BM1422 ER4

Mon-Fri BHX-LYS 1145 1415 BM1431 ER4
Mon-Fri LYS-BHX 1450 1535 BM1432 ER4
Sun LYS-BHX 1440 1525 BM1431 ER4
Sun BHX-LYS 1555 1830 BM1432 (W pattern MAN based aircraft) ER4

Mon-Fri and Sun BHX-GOT 1630 1935 BM1441 ER4
Mon-Fri and Sun GOT-BHX 2005 2115 BM1442 ER4

What a pity Lyon is timed just 80 odd minutes after Flybe's new service! However there are plenty of opportunities for 50 seat business/leisure routes out of Birmingham this could be a perfect aircraft for thinner Birmingham routes.

Maybe a tour operator will utilise the aircraft on Saturday? As Inghams plan to do BRS-VRO on Saturdays.

Just noticed that the Gatwick Airport destinations page includes BMI Regional to Leeds (with the new logo indicating that this is not merely an out of date listing).

A sign of things to come or simply, like some of the others listed, wrong?

I think the Gatwick Airport website page to which you're referring includes a lot of ad-hoc flight routings as well as regular operations.

BMI regional for one is listed as flying to Belfast, Cardiff and Leeds
Avion Express is listed flying to Kos
Jet Time listed as flying to Billund

etc etc

I tend to go for the "simply wrong" option. They also show bmi regional flying to Cardiff, Norwich and Newcastle, as well as flights by JetTime (Danish charter carrier) to Billund, Swiss to Basel, Austrian to Edinburgh (!), Aer Lingus to Lamezia, and some other oddities. Could it be that even one-off charter flights end up generating a listing here? Whatever about LGW-LBA, I would be very surprised if bmi regional were contemplating LGW-NWI!

Bmi Regional operates into CWL quite often at weekends on charter flights carrying football and rugby club teams.

With Swansea City in the Premier League most teams fly in to CWL including the London clubs and LGW was used at least once this season (by Chelsea FC) in connection with a match at Swansea, though LTN seems the more popular choice for the Prem football clubs.

So this may be the reason for the unusual BMIr Gatwick routes. Leeds, Newcastle and Norwich have fairly high profile football clubs which may account for the presence of LBA, NCL and NWI in the list.

bmir will replace OLT Express on BRE-TLS, in what is somewhat of a surprise development. This route is used mainly by EADS personnel (similar to HAM-BRS).

Flights start 4MAR, 5/7 Mon-Fri.

Flight times Monday-Friday
0730 dep BRE
1645 dep TLS

One wonders whether more TLS EADS routes will follow, otherwise this particular plane & crew will have a relaxed day.

Hope all the new routes turn out to be ok.... starting this many routes in short notice will be huge cash out... These routes won't be black figures in the first few months... hang in BMIr!

I will be really surprised if the aircraft that operate BRE to TLS remains on the ground for most of the day. I would of thought it would probably operate
BRE-TLS-BRS-CEG-BRS-TLS-BRE.
