People are very quick to point out the "curfews" and noise from BHD
But what about the flights to BFS in the middle of the night that go right over the city and residential areas?
Down here in South Belfast there is at least Two flights each night that basically do a 04 approach over the houses. With windows open it just as noisy as flights during the day from BHD. I believe during the enquiry into the seats for sale a resident mistook flights going into BFS for City ones when asked what time of night noise disturbs you more !

Topically enough the schedule is a bit of a shambles tonight with at least nine arrivals after 21:30 and a departure to Birmingham > 22:00 ( not a based aircraft, then ).

They must read Pprune!

Not terribly exciting, but heard that Starbucks are going to replace Caffe Ritazza in departures. Would be a good addition if true, able to get decent coffee post security.

The words "good" and "coffee" in the same paragraph as the word "Starbucks"? Seriously? Anyone who actually enjoys coffee avoids Starbucks. It's like buying Guinness in a French wine shop.

Can anyone work out BRU loads, CAA for April show 952 to Brussels and 88 to Antwerp.

EI also showed some growth on FAOAGP even with Easter earlier, make off 70 and 79% loads.

Difficult to work out BRU because there was so many cancelled in the first week or so. Also numerous passengers changed their plans either because they didn't want to be in Brussels after the terrorist attacks or because onward connections were unavailable due to all the restrictions in services.

Incidentally also wading into the silly coffee bar discussion Caffé Ritazza is in BFS. It's Lavazza Expression which Starbucks will replace at BHD, the move has been planned ages by autogrill who are the operator.

Stab, are you schizophrenic? I only ask as you've gone from totally agreeing (post 2907) to being flabbergasted (2911).

Stab....unlike Ireland which has be told to re-vote not once but twice by the EU ....brexit is brexit and it will be better for us in the long run and our airlines won't be tangled in the mess of EU red tape etc.

Mart, without raking over now defunct arguments, can you detail the benefits of Brexit? You know, the ones that 95% of economists were unable to identify?

Anyone who thinks Brexit is good for Northern Ireland is so disconnected from reality as to be in another dimension of existence. Still. I'm watching BBC Newsline at the minute. Why should I be surprised by the mentality of some in this country.

Mart

What red tape?

They will have to apply the same rules and regulations to be part of Open Slies and they will do just that.

Staying or leaving will have zero difference!

We only have a few holiday carriers, a loco heavily reliant on Europe and two long haul operators who will not give Belfast the time of day outside a couple of holiday flights.

Only benefit will be to DUB if the UK go against Open Skies agreement.

The stay campaign used lies and inflated figures to produce every kind of argument to remain possible and Armageddon was predicted on the day after the referendum. Everything we buy is wrapped in EU red tape, just google how many bits of legislation cover the simplest of things such as selling a tap, let alone aviation. Until the deal is negotiated nobody can say we will or won't be better off but remember who has caused the stock markets to crash....it certainly wasn't the general voting public.

Mart you are way off here. Look at the hit that share prices of companies like Ryanair and Easyjet took, why do you think that is? Ryanair were actively asking customers in emails to vote remain. The regulation stuff is nonsense for 3 reasons. 1. Because most of it is to protect consumers (including the EU261 flight compensation) 2. If companies want to export to the EU they will still need to abide by EU regs and 3. Do you really think the UK won't apply equivalent regulation - except maybe the ones that actually help people. I can't see the Tories setting up a flight compensation scheme or implementing an EU ban on roaming charges for example.

Ah Mart, learn to think for yourself and see past the propaganda on both sides. Imagine the scenario. You're the CE of a huge US tech company. You can invest in Belfast or Dublin. Up until the British people voted for exonomic suicide, both cities would prove to be plausible bases. Now think about that CE's position after the vote. A tiny pimple of an outpost of the U.K., or Ireland, with its low corporation tax and place in the EU. Any idiot would see NI's disadvantage.

Brexit may, but I doubt it, be good for England, and eventually, an independent Scotland. Northern Ireland is screwed. Come back in ten years and tell me I'm wrong.

Irrespective of the debate about in/out, for or against, sadly the people at the helm so no leadership, they cannot even make a decision about a runway in the south of England, what chance have they of steering the shop to prosperity... I'm not convinced...

EI-BUD. Spot on. And whilst they scramble for power and the placation of Big Business in the south of England, little or no consideration will be given to NI. Our current SoS really couldn't care less about the prosperity of NI, and I can't see any future Tory gov caring either.
