Family member just been contacted by Thomson re balance of payment, but also to inform them that their holiday has been moved from a Saturday to a Wednesday departure from BHD and flight will be operated by Volotea, still to Verona.

Seems like a Wednesday Volotea and a Saturday Air Dolomiti to Verona his year.

Good info, thanks BFS101.

That's a heck of a change to the holiday package for your relative, though; surely substantive enough for them to cancel with full refund ( if they wished ).

Can I ask. Why VRN and why BHD? Have BHD got a deal with VRN airport as it seems the only charter route from BHD. Do we think we may be starting to see charterers looking for a new airport to operate out of other than BFS. Could we see niche destinations such as FNC,MAH, and so forth being offered from BHD?

I don’t think we can class Funchal or Menorca as “niche” destinations. They most certainly fit the bill as typical mass-market Brit abroad “Free Sun Newspaper here with an English breakfast and pint for €5” type resorts.

I dont think that describes maderia at all or even menorca. It does though describe all the ezy destinations.

I see from the ACL report for LCY, S14, Flybe hold slots for Lcy - Bhd starting in September. Am I not right in thinking they tried this before and failed?

Many, many years ago when they were plain old 'British European' they operated BHD-IOM-LCY-IOM-BHD, three times daily.

It disappeared when they abandoned LCY c 2002/3 in one of the earlier reorganisations.

Should be a good route as it more than likely will be code shared with BA
Although I do have a feeling we will see Southend also, I can see that becoming the new London airport for them, should be a lot cheaper operation than LGW

Simply google it. You need to enter a name and email to get through the id check so there's no point in posting it. Using a bogus email address is no problem

Major change of direction in the business model of flybe operate into LCY (again). Might it be like the Eastern S2000s flying for BA CityFlyer?

Surely if it was flying for BA they would just go to eastern for a couple more frames ? 2nd is already being painted afaik ?

If this comes off wouldn't it have to be on the Q400 ?

If it work out as 334 flights in the summer schedule from BHD and they don't start until September, considering that leaves a maximum of 61 days of operations that equates to 5/6 flights a day

I assume however 334 relates to each single sector and not return flights
Which makes sense about 3 flights Monday to Friday and a couple over the weekend

Just been looking at EI fares out of Bhd to Lgw/Lhr for November. Is it my imagination or are fares on these 2 routes really starting to creep up? I am comparing to Ezy out of Bfs to Lgw. No doubt Ba are expensive as well, but I am starting to get the feeling that Bhd is getting more expensive to London that Bfs. Just my opinion.

True Blue,

Have to agree...was looking at a wee overnight for me and my good lady, and it's getting steep. Even EZY seem to be getting more expensive. Is this a by-product of capacity reduction since BE stopped flying to Gatwick?

I think the main reasons is that last year yield had toumbled for all carriers between Belfast and London with EI's entrace of 30,000 so seats to LGW from BHD. Now that Flybe are gone capacity is down and all airlines will want to try build yield back to where it was 18 months ago. We know EI LGW serivce didn't proform as they wanted and EZY lost plenty on London routes because of the increased compitiation and routes such as SEN.

Maybe EI's little deal with the airport has run out and landing fees are due from now on.

Changes to air fares on Belfast London naturally will increase quite naturally. Supply and demand and the airlines approach to yield management (I.e. First batch of seats at low prices hence if the plane is heavily booked prices on offer will be higher) will drive prices up.

AerLingus and Flybe lost a packet on LGW since EI entered the route Oct 2012. EI stuck it out and to their credit they waited, success on the LGW route should be a good result for the long term outlook at BHD for them.

Aer Lingus have contracted billboard-lorries to potter around the Province advertising Gatwick fares from 24.99.

No doubt to manage public perception whilst actually increasing yields on that route.

I'm sure there are some seats at that price, but cheapest I could find was 34.99 on the Sunday 06:45 departure from Belfast.

Jeez guys, haven't flown out from BHD for a while but car parking charges are serious! £32 for 1-2 days! Ouch!

And security staff leave BFS standing for jobs worthiness! Can't see the reason for travelling out of there except for absolute necessity!

Car parking can be got a lot cheaper through Boal. Parking is at the multistory at ikea with a free shuttle to the airport.

Security is a necessary evil. I wouldn't fancy any of their jobs and the rubbish wages. I can fully understand their grumpy horrible attitudes to be honest.
