Quick look at Aer Lingus gatwick timetable for next summer. Seems pretty poor. 06:45 10:50 and 16:00 from Belfast and 8:50 a noon and 18:00 departure from lgw. Now surley with flybe off the route then they would increase to four a day and a later departure home from london. The bhd aircraft seems to operate all three flights next summer. With abit off rejiging if the plane left at 06:30 and turnaround were cut by 5/10 mins they would be able to fit 4 rotations in each way with the last departure from lgw at approx 20:00. Anyone any inside info? About the lgw route or any other new ones maybe for next summer?

This isn't the 2014 scheduled, its just the default schedule in the system rolled on into next summer. The first phase of 2014 won't be out for a couple of weeks and then lather on the final changes for 2014 season will be made.

So BA back to an 0750 departure of the day on BHD LHR arriving LHR 0915
AerLingus on 0745, levels the playing field somewhat. Nonetheless the EI early BHD LHR well subscribed. BA also back to 6 rotations.
EI current BHD LHR departure @ 0730 frequently lands LHR at 0830/0835, though scheduled block time is 0730 to 0900! So arriving in London may well be later than this summer was......

Lack of Stands?
I count 12 based aircraft at BHD?
Aer Lingus (3)
British Airways (1)
Flybe (8)
However there's 10 stands? also there seems to be a stand able to accommodate a Flybe aircraft - Stand 21 down by the Fire station? Where does remaining aircraft go? There's an area designated overflow parking on the opposite side of the airfield via Taxiway Tango is this actually used and for whom if anyone knows?
Cheers!

Hi Jack, Aer Lingus use a remote stand reachable by bus from the terminal. This is used mainly for 320 which mostly does AGP and FAO.
From Oct end and new schedule EI will return one machine to Dublin, and from march end Flybe will likely be removing capacity from closure of LGW route. Hard to know net effect of that as for winter the flights will move to mix of 195 and Q400....

Looks like status quo next summer for EI, exactly same sunshine flights. Don't know if they would roll any more out, would have thought ALC would be a similar safe bet for them.

So BA back to an 0750 departure of the day on BHD LHR arriving LHR 0915
40 years ago the 08:05 Trident departure used to be on the chocks in Heathrow by 09:10.
Even the lumbering Guardsvan was blocked-timed at 1hr 15.
Heathrow congestion to blame?

The Aer Lingus 0730 dep currently is scheduled for 1hr 30m ,although in Win its changing to 0745/0905' I.e. 1hr20m.
Most airlines review bloc times periodically and if they fail to achieve the published times on a certain % of occasions ,the published times are altered in future seasons.
In fact if they regularly operate off slot ( I think more than plus or minus 15mins) they would be challenged by the Heathrow slot committee.
Before this was introduced some airlines used to publish schedules at different times to the slots actually held .

We'll maintain Belfast to London route, says British Airways chief
We'll maintain Belfast to London route, says British Airways chief - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk
Mr Walsh said its airline British Airways has outperformed expectations and stood up to competition from Aer Lingus on the shuttle service since its takeover of BMI last year.
"Belfast is a very important market for us, it's doing very well," he said. "We're facing more competition out of City Airport (George Best Belfast City Airport) now that Aer Lingus have moved in there, but we're delighted to be back in the market in the same way as we're delighted to be back in the Dublin market."

Clearly! It's nothing else, travel time is around one hour or less.
