Good to see, an extra 6 departures a week will hopefully mean there is not too many passengers lost as a result of Flybe disappearing.

Surprised that Flybe are not testing these markets from SOU though.
A good point about routes previously operated but now abandoned especially to Poland after nearly 10 years, but a good marketing department should be monitoring all possible routes, especially ones with good 'promotional' budgets.

Every destination with where low cost carriers are based should be tested for both their tourism and business potential and our tourist authorities should be approached to see how much they would contribute to such routes.

FlyBe do seem to test numerous markets very well especially the ex-pat markets, says he sitting down here in the sun in Murcia, I know for a fact that a twice weekly service to MJV in the winter from BOH would do well.

Thank you Shamrock7seal for my first response as a participating member to a forum I have followed for many years.

BACF operated there first charter flight from BOH this morning.

The E190SR (G-LCYR) positioned in from GLA early this morning. The aircraft then departed as BA7033 to VCE. The return flight is due to arrive in BOH from VCE at 14:30.

BACF will operate a second charter flight from BOH to PMI as BA7035 departing at 15:30. The aircraft will then position back to GLA.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or is there really an (ex) SriLankan Airlines A340 flying at 40,000ft over Iran on its way towards BOH?

Anyone?

Ryanair just announced twice weekly service starting November. Good news. Let's hope it works and lasts!

Seven flights a week isn't a lot for a base - more to come?

Alicante (2 weekly), Malaga (2 weekly) and Tenerife (1 weekly) will now also presumably be flown by the based aircraft - even so 12 flights a week is not exactly overworking it!

Presumably on 2 days it will just do 1 trip to TFS or LPA, and the other 5 days it will have 2 (shorter) round-trips, making the 12.

Or something like that

Great news for BOH! This should help compensate for the loss of Flybe. Hopefully this could mean that a second aircraft may be based next summer.

Both Wizz and easyJet used to serve Krakow from BOH back in 2008 or 2009. It was then discontinued as the route had two airlines flying 6 times per week - too much capacity. This time FR will certainly prove the route to be very popular - there are huge numbers of Polish people from this part of Poland living in Southampton and Bournemouth.

Previous Polish routes from BOH:

Wizz tried Gdansk, Krakow and Katowice (Year-round)
easyJet tried Krakow (Winter season only)
Ryanair tried Katowice and Wroclaw (Year-round)

Potential new Polish routes:

Warsaw would be strong, BOH should be targeting Wizz to return for this one.

Bournemouth handled 56,365 pax in April 2016, 6.5% up on April 2015. Pretty good considering no Flybe services in April this year. Not sure if this growth will continue though into May and June.

Rolling 12 month total at the moment stands at 736,581

Very good news regarding the base at Bournemouth being year round again , at the moment it looks like just 1 flight a day in the winter with some of the flights still being operated by non based aircraft but with Ryanair this can change at any time

Regarding the above passenger figures yes April was a good month but afraid it all goes down hill from May throughout the summer even though Ryanair have addd considerable extra flights to some destinations in mid summer

The winter 2016 / 17 is looking good now with an extra 8 flights added between Thomson and Ryanair
Santa Lapland flights up to 6 departures now ( 2 this last winter ) and Barbados looking to have 6 departures with a possible repeat of the BA cruise charters to the Med in April / May next year again
