Runway 08/26 was 6031 ft / 1838 m and in 1983 the road around the perimeter ( Parley Lane ) was diverted to improve a safe overrun area

During winter 1995 / 96 the runway 08/26 was extended in the overrun area to 7451 ft / 2271 m

Hays travel have added another 4 flights this summer to operate fly cruises to the med on behalf of Cunard this time

This is the biggest fly cruise programme so far offered in one season

10 flights to Venice and Barcelona with BA EMB 190
3 flights to Genoa with Jet 2
4 flights to Athens and Rome with Titan Air
5 flights to Barbados Thomson 787 during the winter 16 / 17

The Palma flights with BA are selling well for the beginning of the season and hopefully this could lead to a larger series of charters operated on behalf of Hays for next summer 17

Skiathos anyone?

Lolo flights will operate a weekly flight from Bournemouth to Skiathos on Fridays from 22nd July to 30th September using an Air X 737 500. Seems like a fairly Palmair-esque operation with free food and a 31" seat pitch.

On the website in the picture it shows the interior as 2x2. However for 120 seats it must be 3x3. Pretty misleading

S16 Summary

Summary of S16 operations, format is the same as my post in the Southampton thread, sadly looks like a rather quiet summer for Bournemouth .

Air X

Skiathos (New!) - 1 weekly 735 - From 22/07 (Charter for Lolo Holidays)

Hays Travel

Athens (New!) Titan 733/A320 (Cruise/Escorted tour charters)
Barcelona (New!) BA E90 (Cruise/Escorted tour charters)
Genoa (New!) Jet2 733/738 (Cruise/Escorted tour charters)
Palma (New!) 1 weekly BA E90 (5 flights during April/May)
Rome (New!) Titan 733/A320 (Cruise/Escorted tour charters)
Venice (New!) BA E90 (Cruise/Escorted tour charters)

Ryanair

Alicante - 4-5 weekly 738
Barcelona Girona - 4 weekly 738
Faro - 5 weekly 738
Las Palmas - 1-2 weekly 738
Malaga - 5-7 weekly 738
Malta - 2 weekly 738
Murcia - 4 weekly 738
Palma - 6-8 weekly 738
Tenerife South - 1 weekly 738

Thomson

Arrecife - 1 weekly 738
Corfu - 1 weekly 738
Dalaman - 2 weekly 738
Ibiza - 1 weekly 738
Las Palmas - 1 weekly 738 (New for the summer)
Mahon - 1 weekly 738
Palma - 4 weekly 738
Paphos - 1 weekly 738
Rhodes - 1 weekly 738
Tenerife South - 1 weekly 738

From the Thomson booking engine Antalya appears to have been dropped, although Dalaman remains 2 weekly. Girona also appears as bookable but with 'no return flights available' for May and Jun on Saturdays, and the same applies for Malaga on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Could just be a glitch.

Why does the Bournemouth Airport website still display banners and advertising for the Aer Lingus Bournemouth - Dublin service and connections to the US?!

the dublin route will not operate again, for various reasons.
the web site not updated, can only think it will be updated for the 2016 summer. with so much going on with airline changes, boh might have thought we will hang on with the website till then.thats the only reason i can think of,web sites cost money to update etc.

If changes to your website cost so much that it takes precedence over keeping your customers informed, time to look for a better deal.

Intrigued at the ' costs ' for updating a website?
Surely they managed their own content and I shouldn't think they'd be getting somebody in especially to update the site? Hence cannot see where the additional cost is the update it?

Equally, I'd have imagined that being part of a group, the head office as it were would manage the content.

Heartbreaking to see the Flybe BOH network being absorbed back into SOU timetable at pretty much identical timings. Showing that those particular flights were working for the 'South Coast' catchment area. Biarritz even goes to 3 weekly flights while Toulon is continued. CDG is now increased to daily at the same time as it was from BOH.

Naples looks like a new destination with Thomson for 2017 as a replacement for one of the Dalaman services

LoLo flights have also indicated more flights next summer to various destinations depending on sales this summer to Skiathos as have Hays travel who have nearly sold out there short series of Palma flights with BA this spring

Naples seem to have disappeared again and the two Dalaman flights re-appeared.

Oh, and the drop off charge rises from 2.50 to 3.00 from 1st April. Surprised no-one has commented on this and no pick up in the local paper either!

Ref drop off charge

Perhaps everyone is either bored with this topic or they have accepted it as part of the norm when flying from BOH along with other airports that also charge to drop off.

Bournemouth will be getting a new reclaimed island with luxury apartments and hotels off it's coast by summer 2020. Working with Dubai to create it. This will put the airport on the map.
