Really? Absolutely not an issue if you're a competent professional.

My latest stand in is 14 days notice though I do get more than my fare share, in my opinion.

At my previous operator double jepoardy applied. Is it not a CAA requirements anyway?

the managements ludicrous decision recently to make all simulator stand in duties assessable.
Stand in always was and will be double jeopardy. As a stand in during an LPC or OPC you are not required to do much except operate competently as PM for the vast majority of the time, if you can't cope with that then maybe you should be taking a look at your professional attitude.

If, as I suspect, you are referring to LOE's then these are just like doing a Line Check when it is your FO or Captain who is on check, effectively you are on check too, again all that is required is a competent level of performance, just like it should be on any day of the week.

As for the number of Stand Ins that you are rostered, have you spoken to Crew Planning, your Base Captain, or the relevant Manager to try to resolve the "issue"?

So you want a roster that tells you in advance that on xx day you will have an engine failure for real........its a bit like driving home p****d and telling the police that if you knew you'd be stopped you wouldn't have had that extra pint!! and this from a company that likes to boast that its recruitment/HR depart is the best in the business, if you fly everyday as though it were a line check it becomes second nature.

At my outfit we call it sandbagging. If you're near to a sim and on standby then you can get called in. I bumped into someone the other day and he told me his mate was called in twice last month to sandbag.

Each training event you do raises a training report. However I don't think a training report is raised if you are the sandbag but I do know that if you mess up then you will be treated in the same way as if you were on your LPC OPC LOE. It is however not voluntary. You are required to do it exactly the same as any other duty.

I can imagine this is more common for the LBA based guys with the sim being just down the road? At our bases with the sims it is much more common.

Roster stability.

The sim stand in with 14 days notice I mentioned above is only my third change in 3 months, that is hardly traumatic amount of changes is it?

The only thing he that count on your roster are days off, for the other days Jet2 own you. If you want their money then do as they command.

Stand ins have never been 'no jeopardy' the only thing that's changed is the report writing at the end as far as I'm aware. As for them not showing on ones roster I have one rostered for the end of September so that can't be right. Disruption seems to affect some more than others. I've obviously got off lightly from the sound of it. This summer I've hardly had any changes.

Win a Trip to Boeing, Seattle, USA - Jet2.com & Jet2holidays

RE the new aircraft, the PR team have put together what they call a 'once in a lifetime' trip to Seattle to see it, including return flights, spending money and 3 nights in the city, aswell as a holiday to Tenerife. And a trip to Boeing’s Museum of Flight for the official unveiling of the frame and ceremonial signing event.

The first aircraft is 'officially' unveiled at a press event on Monday 12th September.

I wonder if it will be a replacement for 'Jet2 Yorkshire'? G-CELB?

Expansion

Jet2.com to create almost 1,000 new jobs - BBC News

Jet2 is to create nearly 1,000 new jobs, including 180 pilots, 700 cabin crew and 80 engineers.

The CEO is quoted: "We have exciting plans to expand the number of destinations we fly to, as well as the number of UK bases we fly from, and this means that our team is growing all the time too."

As much as I want them to succeed the expansion and the 30 brand new 737s with mortgages need paid. With the economic winds strengthening, a softening demand due to geopolitics and a step change in the business plan, are they not over exposing themselves to risk?

Jet2 has an ageing fleet and need new(er) aeroplanes. In today's market of cheap money, and the opportunity no doubt to screw Boeing on price in order for them to fill production slots before the introduction of the Max, what would be a more cost effective way to obtain new/additional aeroplanes? Aeroplanes cost money and airlines need aeroplanes.
With some of the order to replace existing airframes, expansion is significant but manageable in my opinion. With the exception of the seasonality of the business and it being UK centric (which need addressing), Jet2 are in a far stronger position than some of it's competitors. The BHX base is no doubt intended to heap more pressure on Monarch.
