EXS051B G-CELY was out on a test flight as B752 G-LSAE came in from Manchester this morning to operate the Murcia flight from BFS. So must be something wrong with G-CELY.

Going by recent threads, surely is it about time J2 finally invested in more modern a/c?
The A330 would certainly be a wiser and more reliable choice over the ageing 75, would it not?
Not doubt the seat stick interface will say differently.

Planes
carrying hundreds of British holidaymakers came within 500ft of each other in a
near-miss at Malaga Airport in southern Spain.

Aviation
authorities said the pilot of a Ryanair Boeing 737-800 from Leeds was forced to
abort its landing and take evasive action at the last minute because a
Glasgow-bound Jet2 plane - also a 737-800 - was still on the runway in front of
it.

The usual Daily Mail nonsense. Sounds like air traffic pushed it too close and both crews did what they were trained to do.

So what will be the commercial effect be on Dart of Blackpool's closure? I know that all Blackpool flights will operate from Manchester in the short term but surely they will stop this doubling up pretty soon and consolidate. Bearing in mind the apparent price premium on Jet 2 Blackpool flights as compared to Manchester it would seem that Dart's bottom line will be minus a very nice profit contribution From the Blackpool operation?

All depends on what the yield was on the Blackpool flights...otherwise business as usual I would think for Jet2..

In the middle of summer Jet2 operates around 160 sectors a day. I would be surprised if the loss of about 4 sectors a day from Blackpool will make that much difference to the bottom line despite the "Blackpool premium" that they were able to charge.

Silverstreak - has the A330 been definitely confirmed for next year? There have been a lot of rumours internally but nothing official.

Blackpool Premium?

Be assured, there is nor was any Blackpool premium - quite the reverse in fact.

We flew from BLK a few times, but the prices were never cheaper than Manchester. We chose it purely for the flight times.

Blackpool most of the time had some of the most expensive flights, but it would seems going by the loads that people were prepared to pay , very rarely when I looked were they cheaper than Manchester, but then If you wanted the convenience , people paid it.

Is the holidays website down for general Maintainance, Or is it clearing Blackpool, off it or a big make over?

Instead of double or triple daily rotations on a 73, use a 330 and operate a single daily flt, freeing up the smaller 73s to ops new services

Do you actually know anything about Jet2.com?

50+ airframes
Over 5.5m pax
Over 65 routes

Why do you think they couldn't? Because you've never heard of them but feel qualified to comment on this forum?

Id also be surprised if they could routinely and regularly fill an A330. Its the same reason as TOM/TCX etc only have a small proportion of their Euro flights now operated by widebodies.
Whats your proposals and theory on A330 ops in Jet2?

That's true - BLK was expensive and there was an outbound £10 ADF - people paid willingly. I heard whinging on the BLK thread, never at the airport,

Since 2006 - I have flown at least 20 times, 4 from MAN and 1 from Liverpool.

Cheapest Liverpool. never heard any complaints about Blackpool prices - BLK had ease of use MAN uses could only dream about, and people where prepared to pay. Not popping at MAN, I like the airport - But BLK had NO walking.

at Station_Calling:

No need to be like that was there? Someone had a bad day?

Was just a genuine question. In previous travelling exeprience, the majority of flights I have travelled on haven't been full on a 757 for a flight such as MAN-TFS, therefore makes me question whether or not they would full an A330?
