Jet2 had 5 aircraft committed to Six Nations traffic to Dublin from Rome today.
Is nobody else interested in this traffic given the low utilisation of fleets at this time of year?
In recent months it seems they have a large chunk of the football/rugby etc. charter work to themselves!

"GLAinsider" Jet2's Boeing 757-200’s G-LSAG and G-LSAK have been operating the Fred Olsen cruise charters today which tend to operate every other week between London Gatwick and Tenerife.

As mentioned earlier by "flybar" Jet2 have also been operating quite a few charter flights carrying Irish Rugby Union fans between Dublin and Rome this weekend using Boeing 737-800 G-GDFD, Boeing 737-300 G-GDFO, along with Boeing 757-200’s G-LSAE and G-LSAH

I know Monarch Airlines have been doing most of the Welsh rugby charters but I do have to say that it's mainly the brokers who decide which airline to use based on aircraft suitability and price.

I know last year the French fans used all sorts of airlines to travel to Cardiff. Jet2, Monarch, Europe Airpost, Air France Regional, Air France, Atlantique Air Assistance, Luxair, Airexplore, XL Airways France, Transavia France, Albastar.ES, Aeronova, LOT Polish Airlines, WDL Aviation.

Flybar...

As LBIA said:

AK and AG both did LGW - TFS - LGW, with AK then positioning to NCL, and AG positioning to MAN.

All part of the Fred Olsen Cruise programme - think this was the penultimate flight of the programme.

Finally we will see a Jet2 B738 at BLK. It'll be the first scheduled one since early 2009 when RYR used to operate them!

So happy!

G-GDFR was previously with Austrian (OE-LNQ). It was seen in SNN in OS Livery. The Austrian title and logo had been removed.

BOH

With the great success that Jet2 has experienced in the northern UK market since it's formation going to head to head with the likes of Easyjet, Monarch and Ryanair wouldn't it make sense for Jet2 to look futher south for future expansion perhaps towards Bournemouth which is totally under utilised with only Ryanair to compete with on scheduled flights for only 9 months of the year plus a single short seasonal flight with Easyjet to Geneva.

It has a long runway, a new terminal and a wide catchment area and is ripe for expansion if only a consistent operator were to offer a good selection of destinations on a yearly basis.

I know Bournemouth has it's drawbacks such as public transport links and not being on a main highway but the fact is there has always been a very limited choice at the airport over the years and not really catering to the needs of the wider catchment area.

I know Jet2 were going to fly from BOH to Belfast a few years ago but that's a different story but with the great advertising that Jet2 is known for I am sure that BOH could be a good opportunity for them.

In one word no, they have decided Liverpool has Easy and Ryan, so risky to start a new venture there

Its a shame, as I would have thought the new based aircraft in Lanzarote and Alicante could have been a good chance to gauge demand to non based airports in the UK.

ALC/ACE-LPL/BOH/STN/BHX could have been done. Its only 2 routes, but like I say, a good chance to see if the Jet2 brand could work at these airports. Ive missed out LGW as competition is rife here, and I don't think Jet2 could survive a price war down there.

I thought the ALC and ACE aircraft were only on standby to reduce costs under EU 261?
