Adam, as you were notified less than two weeks before departure you are entitled to €250 compensation under Regulation (EC) 261/2004.

Were you also flying Anglesey/Cardiff?

Yeah, I was doing Anglesey to Norwich. They only cancelled half of it. They offered to move me to Thursday or Friday or refund me. I would feel a bit "evil" demanding that much money from them when they are clearly struggling, having to cancel flights due to low passenger numbers and such. They were very kind about it and I don't buy into this absurd "compensation culture" to be honest.

Hi Adam. You are very generous to small airlines. Didn't you want the Cardiff to Anglesey sector refunded as well?

I got both sectors refunded so I am not at all displeased with them. I really do like Links Air, they could have "cheated" like Manx2 and been a virtua carrier but they have their own AOC and have had horrendous luck with the apparently cursed G-GAVA (Do you know what is happening to this by the way?). There was talk from customer services of reducing Norwich to 3 times a week - Mon/Thurs/Fri. Apparently loadings on Tue/Wed are appalling. The route has only been going a month. I wonder if they would be having more success if they had picked SEN or DSA over NWI.

Yes Tuesday and Wednesday are rubbish, there's really not much point in continuing them, but the other days it does much better, it even hit the dizzy heights of 11 pax last Friday. Who knows if it can last though at 3x a week

Is it actually been subsidised by the Welsh Assembly??

Complete and utter pie in the sky.

No website. No trace online anywhere. No Wikipedia page. Companies House info leads to a London address...

Forget it.

How can it be a start up when it apparently already flies? Having checked the routes it apparently flies from Brno, Vienna etc there's no trace. Not very good reporting! Although surely the MD wouldn't give a comment on it if they didn't know anything? They'd look like fools!

I concur with the posts above; there's no mention of them online or at the airports mentioned - this is sloppy journalism at best. I'd lov ea new entrant or start up but if I was Cardiff airport I'd be distancing my self from such obvious amateurs. I doesn't help anyone.
The UK routes proposed aren't sustainable given road and rail competition, whilst the Spanish ones would compete with Vueling risking them leaving the airport.

So assuming it is the Speedairways Ltd. registered in London, it has an issued share capital of £1. That is not going to get you an Operating Licence anywhere. The bizarre aspect is that they obviously aren't operating any flights anywhere.

Googling the directors name mentioned in the article indicates that it is the London based 'company'.

Even if this airline is a true serious start up, surely it's not very economical to have routes where 2 different aircraft types are needed unless they are going to be a 'virtual airline'. Don't fancy taking a J31 to LCA and can't see a 737/A320 to LCY 4 times a day! :-)

The only airline that I can find which fly from Kosice, Brno and Sliac which is called Travel Service who also have a Slovakian sister company called Travel Service Slovakia and Bulgarian Air Charter which to/from Kosice, Sliac and Vienna. I do not believe it's any of these two.

...
On to another topic, I'd love Norwegian to fly to CWL, I flew them in September 2013, really nice airline. Sadly that's just wishful thinking.

The (dead) website Index of / was registered to the director at a Cypriot address, though some of his property interests lead to Iranian addresses. Also director of UK East West Airline, which seems to have similar substance.

flybe

The Embraer 195 is about to land from Manchester ready for the morning.

The seat-map indicates a good take-up on EDI, GLA and CDG for tomorrow at least unless a lot of seats have been blocked for weights and balance.

Certainly will be interesting to see how this venture goes.

As far as I can work out the 195 at CWL is flying to EDI, JER, CDG and DUB today. As far as I can see it's also going nowhere between arriving from JER at 1235 and departing for CDG at 1620.
