Hi Tom100,
In regards to the Ski Routes the passenger figures for the routes will be released mid January via the CAA stats.
As for CityJet the flights do not go on sale until 8th of January until then the flight schedule is unknown. I'm assuming that there will be a huge push for the routes considering there will only be 12 days from flights going on sale until commencing of services.

Hi Mathers
Understood about the provisional caa stats just thought someone migh have had some inside knowledge ? I tried to book a LYS flight earlier this week and response was flights full. Really ?
Cityjet - hope there is a push and it doesn't fall on it's a*rse before Summer sked ? What is stopping them advertising to raise awareness beforehand ? Other airlines do "Flight on sale on xx January"........like you say a mountain to climb in 12 days and leakage elsewhre due lack of awareness.

I'm not 100% certain but I believe the gap was always planned as seem odd otherwise that all flights would cease.
I know the airport has been very proactive in marketing the last 12 months so have faith that they know what their doing.
What has to be taken into consideration that it was only a month ago that Flybe announced their departure on these routes. Within 2.5 weeks it was announced that CityJet will step in to take over these services.
The fact that it has been the festive period hasn't helped either.
Can't see why a more business friendly Glasgow schedule will not work well compared to what is being offered at present. According to the CAA stats this route has seen an increase in passengers compared to last year every month since April.

Yes you are right. I know I saew the huge increases in pax numbers on GLA route, which is why I was baffled by BE's decision - either the yields are really poor, they don't have an aircraft to fly from a base or they need the a/c elsewhere ?

According to passengers on the plane there were 67 people on board the low-cost airline's flight when it landed at Paris Orly International Airport.
Fair credit to these "Welsh" punters, they go around counting heads when they go flying

What do you mean TOM100? They have apologised for the delays caused in getting the flights on sale. Flights are now on sale but only the premium fares, so cheaper fares will be released soon. It is was a big task to get done in 3 weeks, especially with Christmas in the middle of it.

To be fair on Cityjet, when Flybe announced they were dropping the Cardiff routes, was there a possibility that Eastern were interested ? Even if they weren't, would Eastern flying CWL-GLA have been credible ?
I imagine CWL-GLA can support only 1 carrier. Perhaps therefore a need for Cityjet to stake their claim to the route before anyone else and avoid a subsequent fare war ?
Still, Cityjet don't look like they're ready yet and I imagine the first few weeks from 20 January will see some lighter-than-desirable passenger loads

I'd suspect and hope that given the short lead time and the fact silly season, sorry Christmas, was in the middle has been factored into the equation and they are expecting poor loads initially … it will take time to develop and I am sure CityJet know what they're doing …
Personally, I think we should be applauding and supporting them. I do wonder if the negativity and cynical attitudes help on here? I've seen complaints about reporters reading / using pprune to get and develop stories, and then here we are feeding them a bad news story before the flights have even gone on sale ...

Think the point TOM100 is making is that if you say that flights will be on sale on 08/01, they should be on sale on 08/01 - preferable from the start of the business day.
To fail to do so appears sloppy and unprofessional. Better to under promise and over deliver than the other way round, then there wouldn't be room for criticism.
