David,
You're talking of Heathrow, of Luton as examples, this is Rhoose we're talking about and many of these people come out of the valleys for their once a year bucket & spade holiday.
You're right, it is £3.90 Cardiff to the airport yet only £2.40 Cardiff to Barry, it was the £2.40 (ish) fare that I was recalling, so perhaps £5.00 ain't so bad but it's realistically only suitable for people arriving/departing Cardiff by train or people that live nearby one of it's very limited stops, other than those they're likely to continue using alternative means of transport hence my remark regarding empty buses.
As I said you can't compare London to Rhoose but the train fare from Birmingham New Street to BHX is just £2.40 and from Coventry to BHX a mere £1.50, Luton to LTN is £4.00 and these are significantly more of airports than Rhoose is ever likely to be.
CWL does need an improved transport link to/from Cardiff central but three times each hour from crack of sparrows until the owls come out and at an inflated fare, well I think they're going for an overkill. Particularly during a winter compare the number of aeroplane seats out of the airport in one day to the number of bus seats arriving at the airport in that same day.
And I thought the UK lived in a day & age of being conscious about carbon emissions etc!

New bus service
Seems like the new bus service is popular. I've seen
a lot of people get on and off it every time I walk past the stop outside the terminal. Bearing in mind it is its first week by next year it should be well known and even busier.

I have also personally seen a few of the new services in operation, and can pretty much reinforce what Heading125 says above in terms of the initial take-up, seems pretty good.

The CAA have now released the provisional stats for July. Another good picture has been painted. A 3.3% increase in flight movements has seen a 5.9% increase in passengers.
The first time in a long time that AMS has surpassed the 10,000 mark. Good gains on CDG, DUB, Greek charter destinations.
VY stats:
ALC - 3084 (LF 71.3%)
BCN - 2020 (LF 70.1%)
AGP - 3119 (LF 72.2%)
PMI - 3011 (LF 69.7%)
All show good figures, first time PMI has surpassed the 3000 mark with Vueling i believe. Not bad LF's but could be better at this time of year.
NBE sees a gain of 74% on last july. JER sees a 20% increase, along with GLA showing a 33% increase. Not a bad month at all for CWL. Rolling year figure now stands at 1014104, although still 4.9% down, we are slowly but surely digging away at that negative figure, its gone from -7.9% in June to -4.9% in July, so assuming a similar August and September we should be in around +2% growth going into the Winter months, where then we will see further growth, so could quite easily see 5% growth by the end of the year, or also quite easily even more !

It looks as if the turnaround is finally here with the announcement that Cardiff Airport has seen three consecutive months of growth compared to the same months in 2012.
This should continue through the summer at least.

Orlando Summer 2014
I hadn't seen this before (if it's already posted apologies) but good to see Florida return, and CWL continuing to attract new services.
Am assuming A330 or B767 and it appears to be weekly, on Thursday from April.
Depart Cardiff at 10:30hrs
Arrive Orlando International Airport at 14:35hrs
Depart Orlando International Airport at 15:35hrs
Arrive Cardiff at 04:55hrs
Times from Thomas Cook website

That schedule is preliminary and is taken from S13, the full schedule is to be released over the coming weeks, including the Barcelona route alongside any frequency increases, timing alterations and route additions which are still under discussion and planning.

The TCX flight is just a one-off charter for the 10th April.
Also, the full VY schedule for CWL is not yet released, as we believe we are set for a new route fingers crossed. CWL is on the up.

Be good if Vueling added yet another new destination for CWL such as IBZ, MAH, MJV or even TFS, ACE or LPA. I hope the BCN route returns next year which I'm sure it will as loads have increased & a great place to get away too.
Still need additional routes though from CWL, notably the Canaries....I'm sure Cape Verde be a good charter route ex CWL too

Good to see KLM advertising in St. Davids Centre today - they had a competition to win free flights by packing a suitcase alphabetically in the shortest time, and were giving away free luggage tags and other goodies. Lots of KLM staff in full uniform promoting the brand.

And yes it was excellent to see the advertising in St Davids Centre, this is something i have been asking for, for some time now as on a Saturday the footfall of that place is purely astronomical ! They should set up a Cardiff Airport stand there for some saturdays.
Also with regard to the World Routes in Las Vegas this year, we have a very large stand comprising of the Welsh Government, Visit Wales and of course Cardiff Airport.

It has not yet been announced by Thomson even though the flight times have been released. Since it departs AYT at 8am it will most likely be operated by Freebird Airlines or Onur Air.
