Great news. I think there may be more long haul coming from TOM from CWL in the coming months.
A lot of extra flights with Ireland playing at the Millenium Stadium later, along with Vueling making BCN 3 x weekly for a large part of next Summer now. The brand is building in the UK and with the ongoing relationship with CWL and the success of services so far, i can only see more expansion on the horizon.
Also to note, TOM6555 from TFS (G-FDZG) landed last night at CWL behind schedule issuing a MAYDAY prior to landing. Does anyone know the reason for this ?

I am not 100% but believe there maybe two Thomson Cruise & Stay/2 week cruise itineries for Bridgetown and also two for Jamaica.
Thomson Airways will also be returning to operate several P&O Cruises flights to Bridgetown. Also not 100% positive but maybe also four of these.
It is presumbed that these will return for W16 and the additional 2-3 Dubai cruise flights.

More wonga
Cardiff Airport is to get a £3m loan to develop flight routes as part of £46m Welsh government spending on projects to support the economy.
£46m for projects supporting economy in Wales - BBC News
Apparently every 1m passengers gives employment to at least 1,000 people and puts £850,000 into the local economy...
So is it money well spent?

Just to clarify that post said Ryanair announcement due soon. No further information has been provided other than this.
Would like to add that every so often we get a Ryanair/Emirates rumour for CWL and in fairness it's probably Ryanair's turn now.
If something does actually happen then can't see anything significant and only a route or two.

Well any new route or increase in capacity would be welcome. You only have to look at the figures on TFS,FAO or DUB for example to see that CWL was running under capacity.
If FR do announce a couple of routes from CWL, I just hope that they operate new routes rather than competing on existing routes.
As much as I want CWL to develop into a great airport (spooterish side coming out there) business is business and I wouldn't want to see any airline pull out because they can't compete with the mighty FR and we become a one trick pony.

Re the 3 million 'loan' for Cardiff airport in the article posted by fanrailuk:
If an English region had a similarly underused facility is there a mechanism that would allow them similar access to funding to benefit their local economy, or is this something only available in the devolved areas?

Vueling have just announced a further expanded schedule operating from CWL from next March, delivering an extra 30,000 seats across the period. More crucially, PMI now begins on 28th March, and goes 4x weekly sometime in June.

Good to see more interest from Ryanair, shame it's not a new destination and competing with Vueling who have been great standing in at CWL following the loss of BMI baby.
Is there more in the pipeline with FR ?? Their Rugby World Cup extras were very popular too.....I think we are going to see a few more routes from FR to add to ALC & TFS
At last things are turning around for CWL
All we need now is control of APD tax and some long haul routes

Ryanair maybe just sitting on the news for now....so may CWL, you never know.
Ryanair were previously going to operate ALC, GRO & REU few years back so there may be something in the pipeline that's not announced yet.....who knows.
Be even better if it was something different to ALC

Cardiff Airport have categorically stated that this rumour of Ryanair flying to Alicante is not going to come to fruition. I have personally spoken to the airport team today regarding this issue.

Maybe not ALC as that's obviously Vueling territory but it would not surprise me that a FR announcement is on the cards, especially after all the successful Rugby World Cup flights......
