i know where not going to see any new start up over the winter of any new airline taking over baby routes just hoping to get news on summer 2012 if cwl found anyone to come in and take baby routes over
Stating the obvious:
CWL will not prevent the 'leakage' of pax to Bristol. Of (say) 200 pax on a Bristol flight, 40 may be from Cardiff's catchment area. That's not enough to fill an aircraft economically, so they will continue to go to BRS.
As to transferring the whole flight to CWL, that's pretty unlikely. The 160 pax from the Bristol catchment won't necessarily go to CWL, as some of the will be nearer EXT, BHX or LHR.
CWL will at best provide a departure point for popular destinations, well-served from BRS such as PMI, AGP, FAO etc, where volumes are sufficient for the aircraft to be filled from Welsh demand.

Vueling has announced today a new seasonal service linking Cardiff with Barcelona, 3 times per week, starting summer 2012.
It is already bookable on their website.

I can't help wondering if Vueling know anything about Cardiff Airport.
From their website:
(Emphasis added)
Where exactly do they think they are going to be flying to?
TA
From their website:
The Cardiff International Airport is situated in Rhoose, 20 km from Cardiff. It is one of the most important in Wales and one of the most used in the United Kingdom.

Damn,
If only I had known things would be developing at CWL ... then I wouldn't be drinking this black stuff in this LHR T3 bar waiting for my CX flight to HKG, connecting to CEB, I could have waited, and waited, and flown from my local INTERNATIONAL airport ... CWL is one of the most used airports in the UK you know.

Wow! Did not see that coming at all.
Excellent gain for Cardiff Airport, the airport will really need to promote this one as Vueling is not a based airline and has zero name recognition in South Wales. (Unlike bmibaby, easyjet, Ryanair, flybe, Thomson et al)

The Vueling website has something about Iberia on it, if pax can link in to their network from BCN it could be a nice little number for the airport, also is Barbara Cassiani not involved with them? She has a good knowledge of the south west and wales market after setting up the GO base at BRS, she will know what potential is there im sure, good news for CWL
