Great to see it finally happen.
The A380 will be here long before 2020.....
Most are more less possible today, I don't think a longer runway will be a major factor in such routes.
In other news EI have added 400,000 seats between October 16-March 17 to LIS, FAO, AGP, LPA, ACE, TFS and FUE.
According to the public Airbus data it will be long enough for a full-MTOW A380-800 weight-variant 6 ( 573 tonnes MTOW ) on a standard-ISA day, assuming the taxiways can take the 575 tonne taxiing weight.
Great news !!
Will this benefit the A380 or would it matter ?
Hopefully some new long haul routes come out of this .
Would Singapore, Bangkok and Rio be possible ?

Above figures do not include the 40 million, 87m high Tower due to be open in December 2019. IAA not make final decision on it as they are looking at technology to reduce the need for such a tower but realistically I cannot see them not building it.

More than 138,000 passengers used Dublin Airport as a hub to connect to an onward destination during the first three months of the year, a 60% increase on the same period in 2015. The number of passengers connecting from the UK and mainland Europe and transferring onwards to the United States increased by 68%. Passengers transferring in the opposite direction, from the US to Britain or the Continent, grew by 72%.
Boston, New York (JFK) and Chicago are the most popular onward destinations from Dublin with an extra 65,000 connecting passengers during the first quarter of 2016. Dublin Airport has direct flights into 21 airports in the UK where the most popular connecting destinations are London Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Mr Fitzsimons said: “We are working closely with our airline partners to build Dublin Airport as a gateway. “Dublin Airport is the only major airport in Europe to offer US preclearance, which enables passengers to save time on arrival in the US by completing all the necessary immigration and customs checks prior to departure. “Dublin Airport is now fifth among European airports for the number and frequency of routes into North America behind Heathrow, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.”
He added: “All boarding gates are located under one roof between two terminals making it easier for customers to make connections to Britain, Europe and North America via Dublin. In addition our new Flight Connection Hosts will assist all our connecting passengers through our seamless first class connecting product.” Dublin Airport offers free unlimited WiFi and a free virtual digital assistant to help passengers who have onward connections. This can be accessed on any mobile device through www.dublinairport.com/dubhub

Dublin Airport has been short listed for Airport Council International (ACI) Europes prestigious Best Airport Award, in the airports with over 25 million passengers per annum category.
The acknowledgement comes after a record breaking year for Dublin Airport, with over 25 million passengers and the No.1 in Europe for passenger service achievement.
Other airports short listed in the category include Heathrow Airport, Frankfurt Airport, Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
The ACI awards recognise excellence and achievement across a whole range of disciplines including retail, security, operations, facilities, community relations, environmental awareness and customer service.
Dublin Airport Managing Director, Vincent Harrison said I am immensely proud to see Dublin Airport short listed for such an esteemed award. It is a testament to hard work, dedication and commitment of the airports employees.
We constantly strive to improve the passenger experience; and to make Dublin Airport one of the best airports in the world, he added
The winners will be announced next month at the ACI General Assembly, in Athens.

Just a quick question , going to head to Vancouver but not sure if a 767 is suitable for that long of a journey , would it be better to head to Toronto and then get a connecting flight ?

Unless your an extremely bad traveller, its not worth breaking up a flight less than 12 hours into segments. I find it more stressful.

In terms of cabin amenities - it depends who's operating. Many 767s have been fitted with the latest and greatest of in-seat video. Others have none. Rouge have wifi based streaming to passengers phone/laptop/tablet. I don't know if they have power at the seats though.

I would support the direct route, why not book up front with them both ways or at least one of the journeys.
UDT
It is 4 weekly to YYZ with 1 stopping at YUL. Think at least once a week the A330 and rest A310

Make off its a route on Air Canada's radar.....
In other news some movement in regards to runway tendering etc
July may see airport break 3 million passengers in a month, if the 10-12% growth continues, had EIs Sep growth happened earlier it would be a given but I think its pretty certain without that 3 million will be passed.
