Speaking about Girona, there are some rumors that RYR is so much eager to press on WIZZ so they're opening a BCN-VNO route this winter. But don't they have an agreement with GRN that all the foreign tourists fly to GRN not to BCN?
Would be GRO for Girona would it not? GRN is in the US somewhere...

Did they suggest competence on the behalf of DAA as that would definitely be a lie.

Ryanair announces Q1 net profit of ?139m

. Traffic at Dublin has plummeted by 30% to just over 18m pax in 2010 from its 2007 peak of 24.5m pax.
The record for DUB was 23.5 in 2008.

Do I feel another court case coming from the DAA. They made up passenger numbers in last years Q1 results as well.

On a recent Spain - UK FR flight, Mr and Mrs Herc708 along with the other 187 pax were threatened by the No 1 that, if we didn't listen to the Safety Brief in silence we would miss our slot . She stated that this would mean we would be held on board for anything up to 3 hours without air conditioning or water etc and would not be allowed off the aircraft

I can assure the No 1 that if you tried that on me, I would give you about 15 - 20 mins of warning that I would be exiting the aircraft, via the emergency exits, if we were not allowed off

I believe that if FR try this one more time the EU, like the Americans, will pass legislation to enshrine in law that you cannot hold pax on an aircraft against their will

In addition to the above obnoxiousness, the overhead bins were completely full and we had to travel for 2hrs 45mins with our handbaggage, which complied with all FR specs in terms of weight and size, underneath our seats. No hot water or hot food on the flight. Massive queues to drop the hold bag off, massive queues to get through security and then scrum-down to get onboard. You need a Class 1 Medical to survive as a pax in the FR jungle

If the crew can't complete there duties then you would miss you slot. In slot airports in sapin Ryanair have to call for there slot before the actual departure time and if they don't call for it they will lose it. You flight would be delayed even more if you were all taken off and you would be giving out about that as well.

No overhead bins hold everybodys cabin baggage when its a full flight. What is the problem with it under you seat?? You could of asked to have it placed in the hold area.

No other airlines have long queues at check-in. I suppose it ryanairs fault that there was long queues at security??

Well said jamie, also what is everyone's problem with giving 1-2 minutes of their time to shut up and watch a safety video/demo. If what the cabin manager said got results then I don't see the problem, she wasn't lying. On a Recent ryanair flight I was shocked to see the total disregard for the safety briefing and the noise while the cc were just trying to do their jobs.

ZB giving FR a run for their money

I travel from LPA to North West England fairly regularly. Until recently it was impossible to find cheaper flights than to Liverpool on FR, but recently ZB's service to/from MAN is often cheaper. I am finding my trips regularly consist of FR one way and ZB the other. I wonder if this trend is being replicated on other routes?

Girona winter schedule looking slightly better

@Jamie2k9.
Thaks, great information (as always) from you earlier. I can now see a few more destinations being loaded in to the winter schedule from Girona. So far it matches your information (those that have been loaded was mentioned in your post)e with the frequency given. Only Stansted had less frequency daily and not twice daily (yet) but I expect that can change later too.
Still most destinations are still missing in the schedule, especially the one I am looking for (NYO).

FR new to LEJ

I think not yet mentioned here: FR will start flying from Leipzig/Halle LEJ to STN and CIA (this is Leipzig proper - not Altenburg). This is a good move at LEJ has no London flights at all (!) while it has excellent infrastructure (train to Leipzig central takes about 20min). LEJ was one of the German reunification projects which where too enthusiastically planned, they were even hoping to become some kind of LH hub. Current main user is DHL for cargo. Note the ICE from Leipzig to central Berlin takes only some 1:15, while the train from SXF to central Berlin takes already some 30min. But I don't think this will mean moving capacity from SXF to LEJ ahead of BER opening next June.

8th aircraft to Rome-CIA from November. 7 new/old routes to Bordeaux, Genoa, Leipzig, Manchester, Marseille, Ponzani and Wrocław.

Also FR hope Irish Gov reject there plans to grow passengers as they would have to use 10 out of the 80 aircraft they plan to ground.

Girona's base will be cut 50% this winter compared to this summer.
3 based aircraft - 1 operates from Paris BVA all day M,W,F,Su. (leave GRO 07.00 return 23.25)

Barcelona - VNO starts November.

Ryanair Georgia / Montenegro

Around this time last year I seem to recall some stories that Ryanair would consider setting up routes to/from the former soviet republic of Georgia (Kutaisi, was there target city I'm sure), any more up to date news about this?

There was also rumours of some new routes to Tivat and Podgorica from PIK and STN, again does anyone know if these will actually come to fruition?

Apropos Mr & Mrs weird names' flight.... I note they didn't say which airports..... if you go to Spain in July from/to no matter where you'll be a) on a crowded flight b) surrounded by people who only fly once a year or so c) be delayed..... and that is before you take into account FR's peculiarities such as everyone having the max hand luggage.

BTW, who the hell needs to have hold baggage going to Spain? The weather is good, ye don't need much clothes.

MNE

With my usual 'luck' of predicting those things, they'll probably announce this tomorrow ! But people in Montenegro aren't overly optimistic this will happen. Local politicians are quite aware this will mean the death of MNE Airlines. But I guess one can't turn the tides. The Montenegrian coast now is very expensive (you surely read about the Rothschild party), not really an obvious place for the kind of tourists FR carries. Due to MNE not (yet) being EU or Schengen member and therefore having much less strict rules for Russians.

A nice link for this part of the world:

Everybody with children. Which is quite a proportion of travellers to Spain. Ignore their needs and they'll use ThompsonFly etc. I personally wouldn't recommend FR to anybody with children anyway.

Or wants to buy their toiletries / suncreams before they leave, and that may want to bring some back if they are not all finished. And those with a little dignity that would like more than a couple of changes of clothes for the evenings.

See the same people leaving the hotel each night for a week / fortnight in the same clothes??? Must've flown Ryanair!! Lovely...

Each to their own, but like I've said before, just because they're cheap doesn't necessarily make it good value. I'm sure we all don't buy food in Lidl, Aldi or buy Tesco Value. Sometimes it's money well spent to buy the odd thing from M&S!

Ryanair in Catalonia Girona/ Reus/ aka "unreal-Barcelona"

Lunchtime tv mentioned that winter routes from Girona will fall by roughly half.

Reus even more presumably where they will up-sticks as a base (sic) shortly.

The local politicians have finally got sick of the Ryanair blackmail tactics. Speaking from memory, the tv claimed that Ryanair want 15m euro to guarantee 3m passengers (at Girona I think) whereas previously they had settled for 5m euro to cart 4m passengers.

Ryanair are claiming they will walk away though given the amount of subsidy (yes I know we have to EU-pretend it is not really a subsidy) involved and the cost of aircraft kerosene currently they themselves are in something of a hole and susceptible to be on the receiving end of their own medicine for once.

MOLīs side-kick (you know, "the charmless one") was in the principality whining about people who donīt keep their word so obviously they still think there is euro-millions-dosh non-subsidy to be had locally !

Ryanair admit in their q1 report that pax numbers will be down some 4% in the winter vs last winter. With very high fuel costs working though the millions of 1 euro flight are gone for ever. At some point the summer pax will fall as well
