Had a bit of a scout around news websites but it all appears to have gone very quiet...

Anyone heard anything?

Nah you won't do either the idiot has no assets.

I Think most operators that have 19 seats are savy to the idiot now.

If you have over 19 seats you have to start putting money down for the route to the CAA.

The blokes I know that flew with him reckon he was pretty ham fisted and a complete pain in the arse on the FD. So I can't see him getting a pilot reference for any work.

So add to the fact he is ginger his job prospects were minimal anyway and with his reputation they are even worse.

a jock discriminating on the basis of ginger hair?

I don't believe it.

The last 2 acceptable prejudices; being posh and being ginger (indicative of celtic roots).

BVI Airways to begin service in late February

Well well well - a J31....

I'm getting déjà vu. Actually, déjà moo. Heard this BS before...

As you say, Bar Fly - here we go again. To all potential employees, suppliers, passengers, airports - TREAD EXTREMELY CAREFULLY.

I'm reliably informed that with immediate effect MH is no longer known as Baby Branson, but Mini-Maxwell

Bar Fly thanks for highlighting were the ginger is now operating.

There have been a few question about that operation amongst J32/32 rated pilots who were out of work and nobody had a clue about it. There has been some cold calling as well. If they have the varsity database it would explain it.

Mind you Air Baltic seem to like the scottish J31 product so hopfully none of the lads/lassies should be unemployed for much longer.

The blokes I know that flew with him reckon he was pretty ham fisted and a complete pain in the arse on the FD.
And the ones I know that flew with him at an earlier stage of his training didn't have much time for him either, not least because his own attempts at S+L in a PA28 left him airsick. Rumour from an engineering link to a CI operator is that he struggled rather a lot in the JS too. Ah well...

Well you have to hand it to him, he's persistent.

Although they do do things differently in that part of the world...very differently.

Oh my...here we go again. I wonder if BV Airways is aware of MH's messy past with airline start-ups. Not someone I'd want anywhere near my new venture. I'd love to hear the interview (performance) that got him hired on at BV Airways...I'm sure it was just as smooth as the lies he spun to get those pilots to pay him all that money back in the UK. Did they ever get repaid?

MH attempted some edits on his Wikipedia page that said he was cleared of all wrongdoing associated with the Varsity Express scam. More lies? Probably. I didn't hear any other news on that story. Anyone have an update?

and by the name of "Luke Smith"...
I know it's easy to call yourself Fred one day and Luke the next but surely for the kind of position he applied for, he must have had to produce some kind of legal documents (ie passport, driving license) at some point in the interview process?

Beggars belief, someone ought to send this link to them.

Not that I want to be the first to speak well of Mr Halstead, but the photo of Luke Thingummy on the BVI News website is not him...

So he's not going to be prosecuted...

BBC News - Probe into Varsity Express at Oxford Airport dropped

Police have confirmed they are no longer investigating claims of fraud involving a company which ran flights between Oxford and Edinburgh.
Services by Varsity Express, set up by entrepreneur Martin Halstead, started in March but were cancelled within a week.
Earlier, Thames Valley police said they would launch an investigation following complaints.
In a statement, the force said the inquiry showed no offence had occurred.
It said: "Thames Valley Police can confirm that all the interested parties in this case were written to last week and told that this was a civil matter.
"While we appreciate this may not be the response they were hoping for, unfortunately the investigation showed that no crime had been committed and this was a civil matter, therefore Thames Valley Police are unable to take any further action."
The cancellation of the service left some passengers stranded in Scotland unable to return to Oxford Airport.
Mr Halstead denied he, or the company, committed fraud.

What about misrepresentation? This was the guy who obtained services by using a false name!

Words fail me.

I hope he is sued, but how much money does he have?

....and the police are mystified why the British public have absolutely no confidence in them.

This beggars belief!
