I do wish that people would stop wittering about lo co's coming to Teesside. This is exactly what started the rot in the first place. Placating and bending over backwards to do everything to get them in to fly the same routes as old friends such as the Thomson group who were steadily ignored by the airport.Thomson are still here but where are the rest?
As for Easyjet coming to Teesside, two chances ,fat and no. Easy fly from Somewhere to Somewhere not as we are which is near Somewhere to Somewhere.Anyway Stelios is taking the management to court to stop them expanding and so that would snooker it anyway.
Small regional airports like Teesside do holiday charters well. Stick to what you are good at and only take business from lo co's on your own terms which in the main means don't crap on your oldest customers.

Small Steps
Eastern's Southampton route gets a Sunday service from 6th June, linked in with the Aberdeen flight (ABZ-MME-SOU-MME-ABZ) with a Saab 2000.
Newcastle-Southampton has been dropped completely as per the rumours the other day.

well from the latest pax figures for april, the new sunday addition to the SOU service will add 5 passengers to the daily total! More worringly, Aer Lingus is averaging 34 pax per flight and AMS just 56. Even the steady ALC is at 80%. Before anyone says, this takes into account any cancellations re the ash.

Mike Morton from DSA appointed as new ops director at MME in place of Kerry Quinn, and will apparently run both DSA and MME at the same time !
Put the two together & they struggle to attract 1 Million pax per year. Peel must be wondering just how they got into this position, still they do have LPL that suggests that may achieve 5 Million pax this year. One doesn't need to be a brain surgeon to work out where Peel are coming from.

DSA will achieve above 1m this year with EZY on board.
I don't understand why people put so much emphasis on the role of the Ops Director. The vitriol of some on here is out of touch with what the role is accountable for. Peel's centralised model means airline negotiation and route development are covered by one team, so its the same people you talk to about developing something in LPL as you do DSA or MME. The Ops Director is there to coordinate the staff directly employed by the airport with the other on-site agencies to make sure that whatever passengers are generated by the Central team are processsed efficiently.

This will need on average 105,000 a month for the remaining 8 months of the year, which I think is pushing it. Hope it happens, though.

I am unclear as to what your point is re Peel, who certainly have not escaped adverse comment on this thread over the years, other than to condone the fact that as everything that has gone on at DTV is down to Peel and not the responsibility of the Operations Director, then surely, conversely you are suggesting then it is Peel who are responsible for the demise of DTV.
Anyhow glad to here that MsQ has a fan club of at least one, even if they habit BOH

I see Holidays4u have added a 2nd Dalaman flight next summer during the peak summer, starting in July. Potentially gives us 5 flights a week to Turkey.

Skyman - not offering anyone a hiding place, just explaining the way Peel manage things. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Things that don't need to be done locally, are done centrally. Things that need to be done locally, are done locally. Very simple.

Had 3 emails the past few days about flights from DTV, and booking them.
The site is also doing quite well, with advertising for the Jersey service & of course the 6th Aer Lingus Regional flight. Spain, Bulgaria & Majorca have also been mentioned within one article on the site.

As an article on the DTV website it is well written, that is until as ever, someone gets a little too carried away !
Challenge??
All this leaves Emma Ormerod facing a busy summer – but it is a challenge she relishes:

After the last round of redundancies it was announced that all remaining employees would be required to multi task. Obviously Emma has drawn runway maintainance or high level signage cleaning or something to that effect as well as her own job.

Not sure, anyone on here from RE?
A small snippit of good news is Holidays4u have now added a 2nd Bodrum flight in peak summer next year, giving 6 flights a week to Turkey in August/September. Quite an increase on the 4 this year!
