Question Kraków Airport

I am wondering why there is no airline base in Krakow, Poland. The airport is well-equipped to handle it, there are two passangers terminals and plenty of passangers arriving and departing.
Do you know if any airlines are considering to make EPKK their base in the near future?

SkyEurope 2004-2007: Good Summers but profit got wiped-out due to all the diversions to KTW in the Winters.

Central Wings 2007-2008: Economic downturn made KRK unviable.

(I am wondering why there is no airline base in Krakow, Poland.)

Simple answer. The airport is a disaster.
Wizz moved to KTW because of the primitive facilities for both for passengers and because of poor technical aids.
The new domestic terminal is basically a huge luxury office block for the managers and all their friends and relatives. The rest of it has about 3 check-in desks used by LOT but only 1 is being used because no demand.
Huge fuss was made about laying the foundation stone for the new fire station. Lots of speeches and BS.
The International terminal has not really been improved with most passengers held in boxes. There is still only 1 baggage belt for aircraft bigger than 50 seats.KTW will overtake KRK in passenger numbers soon even though it has less attractions and most pax travel to KRK by road.
The management also have discouraged charter flights over the years as being too low class. Charters are not displayed on the website arrivals board.
New Panorama restaurant with no windows etc.etc.
Three girls at the business lounge desk with only about 20 seats for pax.
I could go on and on.

Wizz did not move to KTW but started in KTW on the very first day (2004).
Btw that time KTW had even more "primitive" facilities but improved a lot since then.

Yes I know Wizzair did not start in KRK but as I said they operated from here but they pulled out.Maybe you can throw some light on this because I read a press report stating the reasons I gave.
One thing I did not mention was also the high charges at KRK.
I know they have their own Wizzair bus service from KTW to KRK which I believe started after they pulled out, is this correct?

NO, it`s NOT correct !

Wizz have never operated into Krakow as stated above but from Katowice but they market it as Krakow. Their very first base was Katowice and I believe this is still their largest base.

Then the article I read must have been about turning KRK down for the reasons I gave and starting operations from KTW which as you say is marketed as Krakow.

Sounds like they probably turned down Krakow and went to Katowice BEFORE ops started as I can assure you Wizz have never operated into Krakow Balice.

Yes, the headline was Wizzair pull out. But it must have been during negotiations.I used to see the crew bus going in the direction of Balice but this is also direction to the motorway and KTW.

Arrived Krakow last night.Ryanair pax had just hit immigration and jammed the building entrance solid.Jet2 pax could not get into the building. Then of course the single luggage belt for both pax and another crush.
It's a good thing it was a very quiet day.

help?

Hello everybody,
I'm seeking for flight attendant trainings based in either Krakow, or Wroclaw. If you had any agency's contacts, e-mail adresses, or any information that would be great help.
Thanks very much

I had not read through the Krakow thread until now. Interesting and it reminds me of somewhere! Tell us, are there still occasional if not scheduled LOT flights to America from Krakow from time to time?

I am sure Wizz could find you a suitable FA training base if you were to contact them if your requirement was instruction in Polish?

Have enjoyed my two trips to Poland one to Wroclaw and one to Warsaw. Has Wroclaw been developed much since 2001?
