Some of their flight supplements away from Gatwick can be eye watering. I have friends who live one mile from Luton who have travelled from Gatwick to save money and that includes transport costs to Gatwick.

Looks as though ABZ is to become a base for Summer 2018.

Yes, looks like there will be a plane (presumably 738) based at ABZ, doing several W-Patterns throughout the week (mainly to GLA by the looks of things).

With the loss of long haul at STN i wonder if this will be transferred to another regional airport
Looks like it's probably at the expense of the Dominican Republic and Cape Verde from Bristol.

Really quite disappointing as is definitely a market for long-haul from Stansted and flights have always been popular. Had a feeling it might happen though as Cancun was canceled for the upcoming Winter season.

Tom summer 2018.

Glasgow to loose a 757.
Luton and Manchester to loose a 738.
Stansted LH programme removed.
Aberdeen to become a 738 Summer only base.
Gatwick to receive two extra 738.

Cape Verde (Sal) has been operating year-round from BRS since 2015. The difference in summer 18 is that the route will be upgraded from B757 to B787.

MAN/LGW will probably gain the lost 752 from GLA.

It seems MAN will probably lose at least one 738 (to go to ABZ). Not sure where the other one/the LTN one will be going.

G-CPEU isn't due to leave the fleet until Dec 2018.

So in other words MAN gains capacity as it looses a B737 and gains a B757?

Fits in with the press statement that MAN gains capacity.

Just to stop everyone getting their knickers in a twist:

Glasgow 757 moves to MAN
Luton 737 moves to ABZ
Manchester 737s(x2) move to LGW

No aircraft leaving the fleet.

Stansted long haul scrapped but long haul increased at BHX, BRS and LGW.

Will both 787-9 be Gatwick based this summer when G-TUIK is delivered towards the end of May (is it May 24th). Will it be delivered to Manchester like G-TUIJ was? Surprised they aren't basing one at Manchester for the Orlando flights. They seem to be using a 787-9 on a fairly large number of European short haul flights every week from Gatwick, throughout this summer. This seems a bit of a waste for a highly efficient long haul aircraft. I am sure their operations team are far more capable than myself at utilising their fleet, I was just a little surprised not to see the second example at Manchester and dedicated to long haul duties.

787 is a very efficient aircraft- under twice the fuel burn of a 737, so it competitive over any stage length really

So Thomson are basing 2 more at LGW. I did hear that its becoming very hard to get slots in the morning so have Thomson bought some slots off someone to know that they can base the planes at LGW.
