According to planespotters.net, G-OBYF has been transferred to TUI Germany. Is this for winter only or if not any more 767's leaving the UK fleet before next summer?

Any idea what type of plane will be working TOM4200 LGW-HER on 25th July 2017? My guess is a B738, but wondered if I'd get lucky and get a B788? It didn't specify Dreamliner when we booked it, and when I took that flight in 2012, it was a B738. (I have known of Dreamliners operating it) but you never know

According to my records no B788's were used for this route during 2016, only B738's. Although HER can handle B788's the new long range flight destinations and the demise of the B763's would preclude there use on short range flights.

Thomson has and does use the 788 on shorthaul in the peak summer months from LGW, mostly with a short haul configuration (minus a Premium cabin) from what I understand.

However it's far too early on for charter airlines to be releasing details of their intentions re aircraft types/routes, unless you're talking long haul which I guess would 99% guarantee a Dreamliner.

So you'll just have to wait and see nearer the time. Just because a particular type was used one year, doesn't mean it will be the same year in year out I'm afraid.

Thomson have two 788s on short haul during the summer, but it's not unheard of for a longhaul configured one to be used on short haul as well. LGW-HER was operated by a 788 on some dates this summer.

I would say you're probably right. Thomson have specified Dreamliner on some of their shorthaul flights for next year, but as always, aircraft type are subject to change so you'll just have to keep your fingers crossed.

On subsequent recheck of long haul configured B788's Tom 4200 was done by the dreamliner. My bag.

Its a bit hit and miss, we were booked on our honeymoon to RHO from MAN on the 787-8, the 2 weeks leading up to our trip it was a 763 but luckily we got the 787 for our outbound leg (TUIE) but on the return it was again subbed for the 763 (bit of a different experience!).

They are scheduled to do certain short haul flights but if one goes tech on the LH or is majorly delayed for example on a long haul route then a SH 787 will cover the LH of course and the 763 will then come into cover the 787.

The TOM4200 is currently scheduled as a B738 so unlikely to be a B788 (or B789!) unless there's a tech issue.

Have we established whether the UK-DWC flights will be 767 or 787 yet? Different sites show both types.

EDIT: Just looked at my parent's tickets; looks like a 767 for the BHX flight at least. IIRC it was announced as a 787 way back when.

According to flightmapper.net/flight/thomson following TOM flts 446, 576, 772, and 794 are B763's to DWC.
