Either they thought they could wing it without them, or cost.

At the time, they weren't certain they were going to need it. The HKT route wasn't confirmed, and route planning can be a fragile thing. It's a lot of weight to carry if you're not using it, they reduce your cabin and galley space too.

Either they thought they could wing it without them, or cost.
You can't "wing it" with flight time limitations.

Cost isn't a reason either. It's a Boeing made kit and you pay for it whether you fit it at Stansted or Seattle. Shipping the kits to the UK and leasing a hangar is hardly going to be a low budget option.

How does it reduce cabin space, the crew rest area is above the pax cabin, next to the fixed ELT?

Height restriction. Pax in the rear cabin to be less than 3foot tall

It does reduce the ceiling height a little and you lose several hat racks as they become emergency exits from the rest area.

Any news at all if Thomson are intending to base an aircraft at Norwich or Aberdeen Airport for next summer to operate there charter services or are they going to operate them all on a W pattern from other UK airports ?

There are not enough flights ex ABZ to warrant having a full summer based unit- so can't see that happening. Usually a lot of ABZ flights are farmed out to other operators.

Has there been a change of plan for the next 787 delivery? Jethros site has G-TUIE due for delivery in December, but the all things 787 site doesn't show that on it's production list up to line number 180 (which I reckon covers deliveries up until about April/May 2014 going off the expected BA delivery dates).

They do have the first 787 for Jetairfly as nearing completion, so putting 2 and 2 together I suspect that this is the one that was originally going to be G-TUIE?

That seems quite a slow delivery rate?

Does the revised delivery plan for the 787's to Thomson mean a further stay of execution for the 767's?
