Well if Thomson do base one of there own aircraft at LBA next summer surely it will be operated by MAN based crews again like it use to be or maybe they could even use DSA based crews.
As it's a cheaper option compared to setting up a new crew base at LBA for just 1 based aircraft?

LBA also used to be a fully crewed base in the days of BY prior to the base at DSA opening up the road.

just to show how trips were made in the 60's, especially as Thomson in its current form did not exist then. Euravia would have been even less known. I. dont think it really matters what they used- you get the idea the ad tried to convey

Why is there a BEA Viscount 700 in the new advert.
Because they are illustrating how people used to travel in the 60's

Summer 2013

BBC News - Thomson-owner Tui Travel sees 'strong' summer

Looking okay for summer 13 bookings.

Following on from the EDI & LBA flights on Thomson aircraft, when will the final details be known for each base?

I know from the timetable you can work out the number at each base but what about aircraft types, as this affects local capacity especially if 738's are replacing 757's.

I have also noticed from the Thomas Cook site a few more flights than usual have similar timings to Thomson flights. Is this type of co-operation something that will happen more in the future? Just seems odd that the two main competitors in the UK are using each others aircraft.

I know from BHX that Thomas Cook and Thomson use each others aircraft on BGS and Thomson wholly used Thomas Cook this summer and last winter for FUE but there appears to be more next summer.

I suppose I can't complain after booking TC for Rhodes last year as they had the apartments I wanted at a cheaper price than similar ones Thomson were offering and I got to fly on a Thomson aircraft.

737-800's,

One uk registered and one Canadian registered using uk and Canadian pilots respectively, uk based crew on a temporary basing, not Manchester based crews.

Thomas Cook

yeo valley

I my case very much so

I suppose it just goes to show how perilous the charter industry is with the competition from DIY holidays.

I assume the competition authorities are happy with it and as long as the consumer doesn't get stung then I suppose it is a good thing if it helps TC and TOM to offer a good choice of destinations.

I notice for most of the winter Thomson are using their own aircraft at BHX with FUE coming back on-line from late December compared to Thomas Cook who have halved their base this winter (although the second aircraft was often parked mid week) and are using Monarch.

BlueTui so which base will Canadian registered (Sunwing Airlines I suppose) Boeing 737-800 be heading to LBA or EDI?

I would suggest putting it at LBA seen it will be able to accept a CATIII approach onto Runway 32 when it's foggy. Where as Thomson's own aircraft are only CATII rated....

EDI Base ????

Seeing as they are basing one aircraft at EDI for 2013, does that mean they will have a cabin crew and flight deck base there for the summer.

Or will the cabin crew and flight deck just come from other bases and night stop for a few days at a time, has this been decided yet ?????

Cheers.

just noticed on TOM webiste, all flights operated from LBA next summer flight code starts with 'TBA', for example LBA-SSH flightcode is TBA3805, surely this suggests thomson are buying seats from a airline that is already based in LBA?

I think you'll find that the TBA flight codes on the Thomson website have been like that since the new routes for next summer where announced nsherrin15.

I understand that the original plan was to base a 3rd Monarch aircraft at LBA to operate the charters for Thomson Holidays, But it now looks like they will be basing there own metal at LBA next summer. So i would expect the flight codes to change to TOM codes soon.

TOM flight to Malaga from BFS delayed to 1720 today from 0730 this morning. Does anybody know if this is the aircraft also due to operate Bodrum 1610 flight? If not anybody close to Thomson know what is the plan for Bodrum flight? Is there an aircraft positioning in to BFS to operate it??

No other carriers operate LBA-SSH so it looks like they will use their own metal

Think its may be crew problems. They would of had an aircraft from DUB this morning to operate AGP if it was tech related. I think that they keep another 738 and 757 on standby so would imagine that one will position in. If the flight info on TOM website wasn't down you would know more.

Was wondering about that one. Alpha appeared to be (de?) catering it when I drove in this morning. When I landed back this afternoon it was still sitting on the same (remote) stand.

I can see why this makes sense from a financial perspective however there are a few practicalities that would concern me. For example in May I messed up my Cuban visa card which had come in the post and had to get a new one from the First Choice desk, what would happen in such an eventuality with no desk?
